They have been like this for years. Tae should have gotten used to it by now. And he had. But sometimes it isn't that easy.

a/n: I wrote this a while back when I was feeling quite angsty.
* * *
Tae finds Jin sitting on the couch late at night, watching an old episode of Naruto. Jin spots him standing and offers a small smile. He pats the seat next to him and Tae goes silently. He shuffles closer to Jin, seeking warmth, and puts his head on Jin's shoulder, while the other wraps his blanket over both of them.
Tae adjusts his head, trying to get more comfortable. He ends up lying on Jin's lap, eyes half closed, with Jin's fingers running through his hair.
They stay in companionable silence for a while, the only sound in the living room is the quiet hum of the TV as Naruto and Sasuke argue about something, until Namjoon and Yoongi enter the house, both looking exhausted. They murmur a hello before they flop down on the chairs next to them. Jin grunts something about idiots who don't take care of themselves and gets up to get all of them a midnight snack.
Tae waits till Namjoon steals Jin's warm spot before putting his head on Namjoon's lap. Namjoon shakes his head at him, a fond smile on his face.
"Why are you awake?" Yoongi asks.
"Can't sleep," Tae says.
Yoongi doesn't say anything else and Tae doesn't want him to. Tae is never the one to complain or talk about his problems a lot anyway; but he knows that Yoongi has been noticing for a while, that they all do.
They all feel the hollow feeling of missing home every now and then. They have busy schedules and they spend months without seeing their family. Instead, they call them or video chat with them. Sometimes, it isn't enough but everyone copes.
They have been like this for years. Tae should have gotten used to it by now. And he had.
But sometimes it isn't that easy.
He has a couple of weeks before he can get a chance to go back home, but right now it feels like years.
He glances at the clock, thinking of calling his mother but deciding against it; he will only freak her out by calling at such a late hour.
Namjoon holds Tae's hand with his, squeezing gently. Tae glances at their linked hands for a second before squeezing back.
Jin comes back with sandwiches and the other two thank him before digging in. Tae resumes his position on Jin's lap, watching TV.
He likes busy schedules just because it keeps him distracted, too exhausted at the end of the day to do anything but fall asleep.
And he likes nights like this too; with the distraction and silent comfort that his brothers offer when he doesn't want to talk.
