^^ Neutral Protection Rune ^^
I nodded and reached deeper, pulling a spark off of my soul, and traced the air with it, hoping it didn't explode in my face.
---
The Rune sparked a bit, but glowed a deep purple, and pulsed as it formed into a full Rune.
"Well done! Well done indeed for a beginner, eh?" He laughed, and clapped three times, then pulled it toward the first while the class clapped politely.
I sat down, suddenly tired in my very bones, and he grinned. "And there's that familiar ache in your bones, eh class? Heh. Eat some chocolate, child, it'll fix you up right quick." He nodded.
Someone behind me handed me a small square of chocolate candy, and nodded. "He's serious, you know." She said, and leaned back.
I ate the small square, and blinked as the tiredness went away. I turned. "Thank you." I said, and she smiled.
"No need." She shook her head, but smiled anyway.
"Alright... now, Diana, care to test her Rune for us, as you're seeing to her recovery?" The professor chuckled.
She blushed. "Yes, professor." She breathed deep and drew a red Rune, and breathed deeply as Mirage growled.
'What's wrong?' I asked.
'She's drawing an Ea.' Was all I got in reply.
The bloody Rune slammed into both Runes, shattering both like they were thin glass, and I gasped. "Whoa..." I breathed.
The professor sighed. "That was very rude, Diana. Using an 'Epoch' class Ea Rune to shatter some 'Noah' class protection runes."
She blushed again. "Sorry..." she ate a small square of chocolate, and I noticed she had a bit more. Then I looked around, and saw everyone had some small bag of candy around.
'Hm... I'll need one of those... I wish to go shopping tomorrow, Mirage. To the market.'
She sighed. 'It'll be amusing, but tiring, I'm sure.'
'Is there any other way?'
"Yes, well, that wasn't exactly a fair test, was it? Let's try again, hmm? Victor, how about you? Demonic protection, and... Christine, holy protection. And let's have Our new student Greta create a neutral attack." He grinned.
I flipped my book to a neutral attack Rune, and sighed, pulling another spark and drawing the Rune with slow, precise strokes.
I looked up, and the professor hummed. "Well done. You learn quickly, little one. Well, let's test it, hmm?"
I nodded and threw it at the protection runes, and waited for something to happen... until it passed through them and exploded so violently that I felt the shockwave all the way in my seat at the top of the ramped seating.
He laughed. "Ah. I forgot to mention. The reason Neutral Runes are so hard to create is because they rely solely on your mind for power and soul for their basic starting energy, whereas the others rely on your soul entirely for both, and is influenced by your souls allegiance, which is inherently influenced by your emotions."
He clapped, and the Runes, what remained of them, were swept away, laying against the ceiling of the room in separated spots of different colors.
"So the difference with Neutral Runes is, the stronger your mind, the stronger the Rune, despite your emotions, and despite the amount of Soul you apply. Obviously young Greta is quite the master of her own mind. Well done indeed." He bowed his head jokingly, and I giggled.
