Class isn't too awful for you on the first day, but the cafeteria is a whole different problem. You don't have friends like everyone else does, and the fact that you don't have an accent makes you seem like even more of an outsider.
You head for an empty table in the corner of the cafeteria. All of a sudden, a voice calls out, "Hey, Y/N! Over here!"
You turn around to see Louise waving you over. Normally, you would've been embarrassed, but today, you feel relieved just to have somewhere to sit. That is, until you realize that all of the kids sitting with Louise have to be in at least grade 12, whereas you are only in grade 10. Nevertheless, you can't turn down Louise's hospitality, so you sit down in an empty chair next to Louise and a boy with longish brown hair. Louise bangs her spoon on the table.
"Attention, everyone!" she practically shouts. "This is Y/N, and she'll be sitting with us. I expect you all to be nice to her." You blush as all eyes turn to you.
"Okay, mum," jokes the boy beside you. Louise shoots him a look, but he just laughs. "Come on, Louise. You know you love me." He turns to you. "I'm Dan," he introduces himself. "I'm glad you could join us," he smiles, making you feel a little more comfortable.
"Sorry for Dan's behavior. I'm not sure why he's acting so obscenely when we have a guest," says a boy with black hair and striking blue eyes, directing his words at Dan. Then he turns to you and smiles kindly. "I'm Phil. It's very nice to meet you."
"You too," you blush.
Then everyone turns to the last member of the table, a boy with wavy, light brown hair. "Hi, I'm Robert," he says quietly. You notice his accent isn't as thick as everyone else's.
Louise leans over and whispers, "Robert's kind of shy. He just moved here from Canada last year."
The lunch bell rings, and everyone stands up to go back to class.
"So, do you think you'll be joining us again tomorrow?" Dan asks, clapping his hand on your shoulder.
You look up and blush. "Y-yeah. If that's okay."
"Of course it is!" Dan smiles softly.
You think that you have met the greatest people ever. That is, until you see a tall, extremely handsome boy wearing a letterman's jacket...
