"Here's your key Ms Sonia. The room has been tidied up for you and my wife and i hope you'll like it here. Have a good rest tonight, it's already late." Mr Lim smiled as i took the key, and thanked him once more before closing the gates. As soon as he walked away, he walked back immediately and called for my name.

"Ms Sonia. I need to remind you once again. Refrain from leaving your room after twelve. And dont. Dont ever, ever leave the house after ten." He warned. I could tell he was dead serious. But as i asked him why, he just shook his head.

"You dont need to know. Dont let your curiosity get the best of you. Do as i say. Have a good stay." He lowered his head and walked away, and i frowned before unlocking the door.

It was small cottage house near the woods, and it was perfect for me to get inspirations as a blogger. It was quiet and peaceful here, and since they didnt ask for too much when i told them i wanted the house, i bought it.

Setting down my luggage, i looked around and found myself loving the vintage interior designs. Various antique vases were placed on the table, and the sofa was a light shade of brown. Dolls, neatly stacked on the shelves, and a swing was placed in the backyard.

I then fiddled with the keys and found the right one for the blue door. Just as he said, the room was neat and clean. Book shelves lined with books and more antique dolls on top of the shelf. The bed was right beside the window, and a small white chandelier was hung on the ceiling. There was a pastel pink cupboard too.  I began unpacking, hanging up my clothes in the drawer one by one, and settling my perfume on the desk table. A soft thud was heard in the cupboard, and i froze.

What was it?

I opened the cupboard and realised it was a doll. Unlike the others, this one was torn and tattered. The buttons that were for his eyes were hanging with just a single thread holding it, and his smile was crooked. There were many cuts on his arms, and cotton was revealed through those cuts. His clothing was black and white.

"Who left this doll here?" I frowned before throwing it out. It was definitely going to give me a nightmare, with the horrifying look on its face. The soft thud was heard again, and i turned back to see the doll standing tall infront of me.

Huh?

I blinked. The doll i threw on the bed, why isit standing infront of me?

The sky pitch black and i realized it was already close to midnight . I looked at the doll once again, before grabbing a plastic bag and stuffing the doll in it. I then threw it out of the house, and dusted my hands before slamming the door shut.

Did Mr Lim say something about not leaving the house after ten?

"He cant be serious about that." I shrugged and made my way to the kitchen, making myself something to eat. I pulled out my laptop from my bag, and settled it on the kitchen table as i munched on my bowl of cereals. Being surrounded with nothing but trees made it a quite site. And since i was alone in my house, it was starting to scare me a little.

I blasted some songs as i cleaned up the area. Humming to the song, i took a cloth and wiped the mirror. It was weird how the kitchen had a mirror right infront of the sink, and it too had a huge crack in the middle.

Why didnt Mr Lim take it down? I ran my fingers down the crack. It pricked my fingers and before i knew it blood was trickling down my finger.

"Geez." I washed my finger with some water before putting a bandage over it. I took the cloth and wiped of the blood stained on the mirror,

But it wouldn't come off.

The harder i tried to wipe it off, the more it stained the mirror. The music i previously turned on had suddenly stopped, and it was replaced with chilling cries and soft laughters.

The Grandfather's clock striked twelve.

The temperature in the house had dropped drastically, and the swing at the backyard started swinging gently.

"Fuck." I dropped the cloth as i scanned my surroundings. The windows were shut tightly, and the door was locked. The lights flickered before dimming, and as i looked over to the living room,

The doll i threw out was sitting on the rocking chair, smiling at me.

"Welcome home Sonia."
