Wrong Number (NaLu)

Day Thirteen

Lucy woke up finding herself in another place again. 

"Is it me or am I just actually teleporting?" she got out of bed. She noticed that there there were flowers leading a way into a room.

"What day is it? I feel like I slept for hours." She stretched and saw new clothes on the wall.

For my dear Luce.

Without further ado, she put them on and realized that it really suited her. So Natsu knows my style, huh? she thought.

She followed the flowers and they lead her to a dark room. Its only light source were candles, and it smelled really good in there. There was a table for two in the middle. Natsu was standing beside the table with a smile on his face. Lucy grinned and was very happy that she got to see him again. Then, while standing there, her head ached as lost and forgotten memories of her childhood went back to her.

She fell to her knees and remembered.

My name is Natsu, what's yours?

I'm-I'm Lucy, my family and I just moved in...

Cool, you have blonde hair! It's so soft!

You have salmon hair, I think that's more unusual and more amazing...

Aw thanks, you're really nice.

What?

I said you're nice.

You're the first person to ever call me back.

Lucy smiled, tears streaming down her face. Natsu held her and asked if she was okay, but she closed her eyes and kept remembering her memories with Natsu. She felt like it was important to remember.

Lucy, be careful, you might get hurt.

Don't worry, I got this.

Lucy fell down the tree she was attempting to climb and hurt herself. Natsu came to help her and treated her small wounds.

I told you to be careful, Luce.

I'm sorry..

It's alright, but I won't be always here to help you when you're hurt, okay?

Okay.

I'll be back soon, too. I'll come back, I promise.

"And then you never came back for months, Luce. After the car crash." Natsu made her stand up. "I was worried sick, but I still waited, and waited, and waited. I waited for years, and then one day, when you accidentally dialled my number... I felt like it was destiny, you know? It's not just some coincidence. Fate did its own thing to fulfill your own promise to me. And about Lisanna... she knew I had the biggest crush on you. Ever since that car crash I never moved on. She attempted to make me lose my feelings for you but it didn't and never worked. We dated, I admit, but it didn't feel like it was right to date her. It just had to be you. I never liked another girl. I never saw a girl in a romantic way, but when it comes to you it's just so different. I knew I loved you, I knew we were meant to be together. I know, I know," he held Lucy's hand. "I'm being very cheesy, huh? But it's the truth."

A tear fell down her cheek. She felt very warm inside. "Aw, Natsu.."

But Lucy felt like there was something missing. There was a distant memory, waiting to be remembered. That didn't matter now, though. 

They sat, facing each other.

"All this time you didn't tell me about our childhood?" Lucy crossed her arms. 

"I thought you'd remember, but I was wrong." Natsu shrugged.

"Anyway, what's all this about?"

Natsu started to cry but Lucy didn't know why. He sobbed. Lucy stood up and tried to comfort him. What she's seeing right now is really breaking her heart. Imagine a broken Natsu crying in front of you, how would you feel?

"Shh, it's alright, it's alright." Lucy hugged him tightly. "I'm here."

"I wish..." Natsu sniffled.

"What's that?" Lucy said gently.

"Can I have one more chance?" he sobbed again.

"Natsu, what are you talking about?"

Natsu wiped his tears away and forced a smile. "This is.. um, my early birthday present for you. May I have this dance, please?" 

Lucy was confused, but accepted. "Sure."

The song Can't Help Falling In Love started to play and they danced.

Natsu was crying again. Lucy wanted to ask, but she figured that if she did, it would make him remember more of why he's crying, so she decided not to do it.

"Lucy, do you promise?"

"Promise what?"

"Do you promise to love me till your last breath?"

"..I do, Natsu, and I will."

Natsu smiled peacefully and laid his head on Lucy's shoulder.

"Thank you."
