He's still not left the house lately. Bills pile up, the mail stack remains ever-mounting and unopened.

I glance over his shoulder while he's tinkering with his laptop. There are emails from his superiors at work. They're understanding considering the circumstances yet they are unfortunately unable to continue to offer him paid leave.

I wonder about the state of the finances. I cautiously bring up my concerns but they go unnoticed. I eventually took to screaming at him until I lost my voice, for he is being reckless by not taking care of himself and his responsibilities.

He maintains that stoic silence, completely oblivious to me.

This infuriates me to the point of smashing the china plates he purchased for me on our first wedding anniversary. An odd gift, yet one I wanted nonetheless. I loved those pristine dishes, almost as much as I always swore to love him, but now they lie in jagged shards on the unwashed floor.
