Chapter 8:

Lea Ramos

"So, who are you thinking of going to winter formal with?" Ryan asked as she propped up her legs at the headboard of my bed. She rose her eyebrows as the edges of her lips creased.

I rolled my eyes as I fall onto my red beanbag cushion. Friday evening always came soothing to me, telling me that I have extra days to finish my homework and time to just close your eyes and listen to the calming sounds of nature.

"I don't know." I respond as I shrug my shoulders.

Ryan scoffed, "Oh, come on! I know who you have in mind! I think his name starts with a 'D'..."

I turn my head and give Ryan a soft glare. I pushed her off to the side of the bed, leaving me room to lay on.

Turning on the television, we watch what was on the screen.

Man of Steel. Just peachy.

Since when did it become On Demand on my tv?

Thinking of Dylan and his winter formal date made my insides turn. Just thinking of me not being his made me feel sick. Physically.

I hated this kind of feeling, where I like someone too much that it just gives me a real ache.

I turned to Ryan, whose eyebrows were already perched up and her eyes in a dreamy state with her lips crooked like the Grinch's smile. She was smirking.

"Come on," she said, "I think you should say yes when he asks you." Once again. She raises her eyebrows as she smiles.

I, on the other hand, grew curious, "What makes you think that he'll ask me to winter formal?"

"Because," she begins as she places a pillow in front to rest on, "ever since you came to LA, and entered that class, Dylan's become more... Open, a little bit. He talks to you like almost every second that times like this rarely happen between us! I can sense that he really likes you, and something about you just really triggered him."

I scoffed and rolled my eyes, not believeing any of the statements. I ran my fingers through my hair and gave her a look.

"Don't you like him too?"

'Yes,' my heart said.

As I settle myself onto the chair, my eyes swam for Ms. Sharpe. "Alright, class," She said with a great smile, "as always, you guys did a very good job today! Shall we give a round of applause to Lea for being apart of this class for a month already? You've improved so much, Lea."

Everyone appraised, clapping around in circles and howling with small whistles. I scan around until my eyes get pierced into a pair of blazing blues. He smiles and claps slightly louder than the others, mouthing, "Good job, Ramos."

I blush.

As I turn more to my right, I spot Adam, giving me the same look, except he begins to rise, cupping the side of his lips and howls, "Go, Lea!"

When the noise calms, Ms. Sharpe concludes the class, "By the way, representation conventions start in two weeks, so for those who need headshots, finalize them along with your resumés."

As we exit the building, I felt a nudge on my side by Ryan. I look at her as she signals me to look behind myself. There, I see Dylan wave at me, jogging to my side. I look back to Ryan, who was already ahead in Jack's arms.
