Chapter 13:
Lea Ramos
My knee repeatedly shakes as I sit down with my script at hand. Ever since I talked to Ms. Sharpe after class, she gave me an opportunity to audition for a family-comedy-romance film. I, being a beginner, obviously didn't aim to audition for the main main role.
Just a main.
After the multiple commercials and small short films as an extra that I've done, I think I am capable of auditioning for a full movie film. Besides, there was the one big supporter beside me, that promised to stay with me since the start, and that was Dylan.
He sent me a smile, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze. He whispered, "Hey, Clark Kent is always here with you."
I laughed and looked over my script.
'Now, don't forget to slate,' my mind told me, 'you have to start the audition first. Always stay in character and remember your lines, especially the longer ones.'
"Lea Ramos." A man announced, signalling me that it was my turn. I entered the room, glancing back at Dylan, who gave me the biggest smile and a thumbs up. I closed the door behind me and began my audition.
A woman, skinny yet wrinkly, sent me an old smile and beckoned me to stand on too of the tape-marked "x" on the cement floor. She then beckoned the man to roll the camera, and said only one word, "Begin."
I took a breathe and spoke, "Hi, my name is Lea Ramos, and I am 14 years old."
---
"I'm sure you did fine, Lea," Dylan said, rubbing my back in soothing circles, "Don't stress about it. It's just an audition."
I shrugged as I scroll through my instagram. I never really expected to get a callback anyway. I sighed, and rolled over on the bed. I don't want to gain a headache either.
"Hey, you know that I don't like you sighing like that." Dylan said as he wraps my waist from behind. He then starts leaving a trail of kisses from the crook of my neck. I giggled.
"What are we?" I ask him, "What am I to you?"
He shrugged, "I don't know. I always thought you were my girlfriend."
I smirked and tilted my head to the side slightly, "Well, I don't know, what if I don't want to be your girlfriend?"
He rose his eyebrow, "What makes you not want to be my girlfriend?"
"Maybe it's because you haven't asked me."
Suddenly, Dylan took my phone out of my hands, placing it on my lamp post, as he tickles me, making turn over to him. He snuggled his face into my neck, hugging me closer to him as he whispered, "Will you, Lea Ramos, be my girlfriend starting now?"
I giggled and kissed him gently on the nose, "Okay."
With that, it was just pure love and peace. That was, until my mom came in with my dress. Dylan chuckled as I beg him to close his eyes and turn around, because I really didn't want him to see it. I was ready for Winter Formal, kind of.
Later on, I managed to get him to go home, and just wait until tomorrow. Drifting off to sleep, i could only wait through my dreams.
When I woke up, I couldn't stand but know that today was the day, the day of Winter Formal. Mom, as usual, was more excited than I was. Thus, she decided to drive me to the salon.
"Okay, first we're going to get your nails done, and then we're going to the beauty parlor to get your hair done," she rambled, "Ohh, I can't wait for Dylan to see you! His mom rented a limo for you and him, and I think that Alexis girl and her date is going too."
