Project 46- forgettable
"You're not alone,"Evangeline Lucy awoke in the woods, bloodied and dirty. She could feel the happiness that had been sucked out of her float away and into the wind. A picture of Eleven flashed in her mind, bringing tears to her eyes once more. A rough wind picked up and blew her hair back. Normally she would smile in a situation like this, she loved all things nature, but she only frowned.
Nothing was the same.
She cried silently as she walked home. Her feet were sore, not helping in her situation.
Today shouldn't have been like this. She was supposed to be exited for tomorrow, as it was to be her thirteenth birthday. All excitement she had lost, as well as Eleven. Evangeline was going to take the day off and spend it with Eleven, like hey did when she turned twelve. They had danced, laughed, played games together, everything. Eleven felt like a real girl that day, a normal girl. That's all they wanted in life; to be normal.
When she reached home she found the door unlocked and a note on the kitchen island, 'rushed to work. Don't wait after school. Love you honey, be safe. ' Evangeline sighed and put the note down. She contemplate whether to go to school of not, but decided her education was important. She cleaned herself up and plastered a fake smile onto her face. It would be an outrage if the Evangeline Lucy was not how she normally was.
Evangeline skateboarded to school as she normally did, as her mother would be busy with Dr Brenner. Entering the school she was instantly gifted with the view of Troye mouthing off Mike Wheeler and his friends. "Step right up and get your tickets for the freak show." Troye laughed at his own joke. Evangeline slowly started to walk towards them until she was standing next to Troye, who was forcing Dustin to click his bones.
"Patronising people again, are we Troye?" She asked rhetorically, making her presence known. Troye turned to her with a smirk on his face. He and his friend started to circle the smaller girl.
"Damn, Angie. Tell me again, why did I let you go?" He came and stood next to her, slinging an arm around her shoulders.
"Because I dumped you and didn't want you back," she shrugged his arm off her shoulder. Mike and his friends snickered lightLy. Troye grew red in the face. "Leave people who haven't done anything wrong alone Troye."
Troye glared at her before walking forwards and pushing his shoulder against Mike and away from them. Evangeline returned her attention to the boys in front of her,
"You boys okay?"
"y-yeah, thank you Evangeline." Mike smiled at the smaller girl. His friends were going to be teasing him all day, due to his crush on the girl.
"Okay. My business here is done." She smiled before starting to walk away, only to stop when Dustin called her,
"Wait!" She turned around to face the boys, "Last night, you were running. Into the woods, why?"
"Uh, my dog got loose."
"You don't have a dog," Mike scrunched his eyebrows up as he spoke.
"Yes I do."
"What's his name?" Lucas asked, just as uncirtain as the other boys.
"Uh, Prince Fluffy." She cringed as the words came out of her mouth.
Mike almost laughed, "You have a dog named-"
"Yep gotta go!" Evangeline cut Mike off and speed walked towards the building after a quick wave.
"Mikes in loooooovvvvvveeee," Dustin sang as they made their way towards the school building.
Once school was over Evangeline simply went home. If only she had somehow gone out with Mike and his friends, would she have found Eleven.
