Scarlett's POV
The school day passed like a blur. I had always been a good student; I paid attention in class. But I would rather be writing in my journal. And even if I'm not writing in my journal, all of my homework has song lyrics on the side of the paper. But I don't think my teachers mind it.
As I was sitting in my last class of the day - English Literature, how fun - I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.
I placed my phone in between the pages of the book we were supposed to be writing an essay on next week.
Liam: Hey boo, I won't be able to give you a ride home today. I have a blind coffee date right after school :(
I groaned inwardly. I guess I'm walking the ten miles home.
Me: Alright, thanks for letting me know. Have fun on your date! xx
"Miss Knolls," my teacher said. I snapped my head up.
"Since you're too busy on your phone to pay attention in class, perhaps you know the answer to my question. Bacon's essays are modeled on the Essais of who?"
I racked my brain for the answer.
Didn't we just discuss this?
