It had only been 3 days after Red had left and the people of Wolvesburg had already torn down Red's statue. The Town bore nothing new, but the walls were being planned out by Pineapple. Pineapple lay in his bed, after countless hours of blueprint writing of the walls to border Wolvesburg. It was little over 12 am now, and Pineapple had finished the blue prints. He felt the restlessness overcome him, and his eyelashes became heavy. He trudged over to his bed and fell over.
The morning came quick, and knocking came at the door of Pineapple's humble home. Pineapple got up, and said,
"Coming!" He expected Eli or Jack to be at the door, but once he opened it, he saw a familiar face accompanied with a new guest. The new guest had jet black glasses, and jet black hair. The familiar face, on the other hand, was Vop. He had an odd name, like Pineapple's name. But he had a high intelligence and eyes of a fortune teller's.
"Oh! My word, would you look at that! My buddy and life long friend, Vop! Please come in, and bring along your guest there." Pineapple said. He was in such amazement and excitement that he almost tripped over the small clay model for the Town on the floor. He asked them to take a seat. They both sat down in his small living room.
"Lang hasteb itin gehen, yehl? You seem to have made a new friend also, yeah? What's his name? " Pineapple asked.
"My name's Dalton, sir. Pleasure to meet you." He said and stuck out his hand. They both shook each other's hands.
"Yup. Dalton was a refugee from another Town called 'Canevas'. He said he would rather not speak about it, but in short, there was a large civil war there. Canevas was a much larger town, with a few hundred of members inside... he's still shocked from the violence." Travis explained.
"Oh man... I'm so sorry Dalton for what you've had to see and experience... " Pineapple replied. Dalton didn't show any expression, he looked like a robot... lifeless. After enjoying tea and leftovers from Pineapple's dinner the night before, Pineapple gathered everyone outside his house. They all stood there, in the warm sun. Pineapple announced,
"Alright, everyone! Thank you for coming together here, we have new friends! This here is Dalton, and this is Vop. Vop is an old friend of mine, and Dalton is a refugee from Canevas. In short, there was a horrible civil war there and Dalton fleed from the town. Also... these two said they would happily help us build the wall I was talking about the other day." Pineapple explained. When Jack heard about Canevas, he remembered talking to other people out in the world before he found Pineapple about it. He remembered the stories of many people slaughtered, and people being forced into the chaotic battle. Jack started to feel a slight depression come over him, as he thought about the homeless refugee from Canevas he met on the street one day. Jack thought about the scars and the burn marks on the homeless refugee's body. Jack couldn't stop thinking about Canevas... how horrible he heard it was. Eli thought about Canevas too, and how he had a small knight's logo badge of it. He had found it on the street while he was traveling to Wolvesburg. He never knew much about Canevas, he only knew it was a big town wanting more and more people to populate it. The thought of such a lovely seeming Town falling into all-out war made his stomach churn a little.
After that, Pineapple and the others went over the plans and started the wall. Eli made a big entrance without any doors, facing the sea. The wall then ran all the way behind Jack and Pineapple's house and then cut at 90 degrees and went behind Eli's house all the way down to the next corner, which was in the forest, alongside the mountainous terrain that surrounded Wolvesburg. The wall had a cobblestone base, to support the tall oak wood running up only 2 and half feet taller than them.
After this, Pineapple told them good job on building the wall. He also instructed Eli to take Vop and Dalton to go build their house, but Eli decided to invite them into his house instead, since the sun was already setting. When Eli brought them in, he treated them both to dinner and he talked to them about how they met.
"Well... when Dalton and I had met, we both were making a stop at a tavern. It was around midnight and I was walking to a new town I had heard about. It was raining extremely hard and we both were soaking. We had to sit around by each other by a large fire, drying our clothes on a bench made out of a log because there were so many other people there. I opened up and spoke first. He at first didn't reply for a few seconds, but then said hello back. After that, our conversation was pretty normal. We both talked about where we were from, where we were going, and who we were." Vop explained. He lifted his fork, holding a piece of steak and put it into his mouth, as Dalton added in.
"I told him about... Canevas.... and about how... well... how many people were slaughtered and chaos broke out. He also said he was from a smaller town, called 'Hastell Glaff'. That's Aquaian for 'Past Village'. Vop said he left to find a town called 'Broder def Staz'. That's also Aquaian for 'Brothers under Stars'. Dalton explained to him. It was the first time Eli had ever heard Dalton talk, he hadn't talked at all when they were building the wall earlier.
"I see, I see... so Vop, you said Pineapple knows you, right? How did that all happen?" Eli asked Vop as he passed the mashed potatoes over to Dalton.
"Well... Pineapple and I met a longer time before I met Dalton, of course. We both grew up in a Town called 'Sevolto Zito' which is also Aquaian for 'Light Life'. So yes, I do know Aquaian. So does Pineapple. It's mostly used up North, but traces can even be found in the deep South.
After enjoying their dinner, Eli let Vop and Dalton take rest in his bed upstairs. Eli then slept downstairs, and laid out two blankets and a pillow on the floor. He fell asleep quite quickly, he had ate so much at dinner. Vop fell asleep upstairs quickly also, but Dalton, on the other hand, had trouble. He kept having flashbacks about Canevas. He kept thinking about his dead mother, and having to run away from his home while it was burned to the ground. Dalton started to tear up, and then started to cry. Dalton got up and out of bed, he didn't want to wake up Vop. He went downstairs and went to go outside and get fresh air when he saw a small cloth looking item on one of Eli's chests. He walked over, interested in what it was. He picked it up, and saw it was a small badge. On it, it read "Knights of Canevas". Dalton looked in terrible surprise and threw it on the floor and stepped on it. Anger and frustration came over him as he looked at Eli sleeping on the floor. Dalton jumped to a conclusion.
"You were one of those bloody bastards who slaughtered my mother and friends," Dalton said under his breath. He opened up a leather pouch that was attached to his belt. He pulled out a long knife as he smiled in the moonlight that shone through Eli's clear window. The blade's sharp edge glittered as Dalton creeped toward him, raising his knife up for a fatal cut. Pineapple was getting ready for bed at this moment in his house, when the knife's glitter caught his eye.He couldn't make much of anyone out as he walked out on his porch on the second floor to get a better look. But he saw the blade being raised up and he knew there was something up. He ran down stairs and picked up a small knife that was resting on his kitchen table as he ran out. "So sad that you won't wake up from your restful... final... slumber... maybe I'll just wait for you to wake up tomorrow to cut you up and see your face cry for mercy as your blood spills all over your white sheets. It's what they get... It's what terrible bastards like you get! Heh heh heh... finally... just a taste of revenge."
