"Come on Sophie! You'll be okay"
"I can't. I'm scared"
"Of course you are scared but it doesn't mean you can't do it. I'll promise I'll catch you"
"Promise?"
"Promise"
The shaking 5 year old slowly edged herself out of the tree she had climbed up. Closing her eyes she slowly pushed herself out of branch she was sat on. She screamed as she fell towards the ground but she never hit it. The older man caught her in his arms and placed her on the floor.
"See I told you I'd catch you"
"Thanks Dad!"
"No problem champ"

It was silent in the lift once again. Sophie's sobs had come to an end and she was a lot calmer. Joe continued to silently hold her in his arms for support. Both had began to wonder if they were ever going to be able to leave the lift. It had been a while since they got stuck and both had been on what seemed like to be an emotional rollercoaster that never ended.
"Thank you Joe" The tired man looked down to the once crying women in his arms and smiled.
"It's alright." Sophie sighed as she slowly removed herself from Joes arms. They both became instantly cold.
"Iam also sorry. Sorry for being so petty to you"
"It's okay. We were both different when we met. Iam sorry too." Sophie realised that Joe wasn't some irritating boy she once thought he was. He wasn't rude or annoying. In fact, he was nice and seemingly a good person to have in your life.
Joe had released that Sophie wasn't a confrontational brat he once believed she was. Actually, she was hurt when they met and really brave for being the way she was even though her dad had passed.
"Iam starting to think we have been forgotten about" Hayley started as she thought about how long they had been trapped in the small lift.
"Iam starting to think that too"
Silence grew between the awkward pair. It was like years worth of feelings had been expressed while they had been trapped. But it wasn't the fact of them being stuck in the small lift that frightened them, it was how serious things had got. Joe and Sophie barely talked to each other before being stuck in a broken lift and within a couple of hours they had laughed, argued and shared a heart to heart. Everything had happened very fast. It seemed like the two had gone through what a strong friendship would have gone through in a couple of years, they had done it in a maximum of two and half hours.
"Let's not make this awkward, please?" Joe looked at the pleading girl beside him and nodded, he didn't want this to be awkward either. Sophie smiled and Joe returned it with a smile of his own.
They just sat there. Smiling at each other. Looking into each other's eyes. If anyone were to find them in this particular position they would definitely believe the pair were on some sort of drugs.

"You can't be serious!" Joe exclaimed laughing hard at Sophie's story.
"Honestly! I climbed up that tree thinking I was some sort of international spy slash goddess. Turns out getting down wasn't apart of my thoughts at the time" Sophie chuckled as she remembered it like it was yesterday.
"My dad was the one to help me down" Joes smile and dropped slightly as he looked at her. "A real hero that man"
"He sounds like a great guy"
"He was" Sophie smiled, thinking about her father and how he had helped her with so much. The boy beside Sophie looked towards her and his lips tugged upwards slightly as he saw the smile placed upon her lips. Joe was glad. He was glad she wasn't upset and was comfortable enough to talk to him about her father.
"What about you? Any childhood memories that stick out to you" Sophie asked, expecting to get a possible cute story about little Joesph.
"I shat in my teenage mutant ninja turtles shorts once" The girl beside him choked on air as she snorted. Joe burst out in laughter as he watched the flustered girl.
"That wasn't what I was expecting" She stated as she laughed.
"I then pushed it onto the decking in the garden and blamed it on a wild animal"
"Ew Joe stop!" Sophie exclaimed as she covered her ears to block out the grotesque story.
"What? You wanted to hear a story so I gave you a banger!" Joe laughed as he spoke.
"I wouldn't call it that" Sophie chuckled as she removed her hands from her ears.
