I rushed back in the cafeteria to continue eating my lunch. But my dearest best friends had hogged it in the ten minute time interval I offered them, unwillingly. They slyly graced me with a chocolate chip crusted smile and I felt like smacking them on their heads. With a chair.I quietly grabbed Quinn's greasy salad with a fork and threw it in her direction. She swiftly dogged it and it hit the back of a delirious kid called Jared. He turned around and looked for the culprit behind the assault. He found me sheepishly hiding behind Quinn's head.
"You!" He yelled as he got up to his full height. Much bigger than my 5'7" self. That turned the whole cafeteria's attention towards the both of us.
Oops.
He grabbed a doughnut from a nearby nerd and throwing it on some other kid before yelling "Food Fight!" At the top of his lungs. These two syllables were enough to raise a mini stampede in the hall as each and every student in Eastwood High rose up to defend themselves against the raging wave of food thrown around by the jocks. Some students rushed out of the havoc while some joined in the mess.
I looked at my two soul mate's horrified faces before a pie came crashing down on Steffy's silk blouse. She roared back and threw her remaining Diet Coke on her victim. "THAT WAS LOUIS VUITTON, YOU MANIAC!" She hauled herself forward and grabbed me by my collar and spurting tomato ketchup all over my white tank top. Bitch. "YOU STARTED IT ROSE. NOW TAKE ME OUT OF HERE." She yelled in my face leaving me dumbfounded for a second.
That is not Stephanie Ritchie.
Quinn looked just as shocked before she came back to reality as she dodged a meaty chicken wing. "Richmond, if I don't leave this place with all my clothes clean, my mother will stake me. And I will rip your ballsacks off." She sneered. I laughed at her choice of words before I remembered that I had a huge ugly stain adorning my chest like an open wound. I'll deal with her later.
We skipped our way through masses of students yelling profanities and battle cries. I scanned the crowd for a certain mop of midnight black hair. I found a peachy looking Vincent with his hands full of cheesecakes he stole. He gingerly ate the cakes as he scanned the crowd till his eyes landed on mine. I quickly averted my gaze and ran out of the cafeteria. I heard a familiar voice yell my name after me. I ignored the voice and ran as fast as I could.
Vincent easily caught up to me with his long legs. "Hey. To the cars. Mr. Jameson is on his way. Some rat ass informed him about the whole thing." He said before he pulled me by my hand and strode ahead of me. Leading our way to the parking lot of our school. I looked at our hands locked together. My hand looked really tiny in his. I felt a little spark travel through my nerves like an electrical impulse. And I think he felt it too. He peered down at me through his long lashes and smirking at me.
Get a grip on yourself.
I saw Quinn and Steffy running ahead towards my car. Steffy turned around and waved at me for the car keys. I grabbed my keys from my bag and threw them as far as I could. Luckily Steffy caught them mid air before they went any further. She climbed behind the wheel and Quinn followed her at the backseat. She left the door open for me to climb in.
Vincent looked at me before looking at our entwined hands and let go. Cold air graced my hand in small tinges as I missed his warmth. "Lead the way. I'll follow you." He said softly before rushing to his Audi.
