Napoleon's Pov
Shannon bent down and picked up a flashlight that was lying on the ground. She closed the door fully and turned on the flashlight.
"So what are these passageways and compartments for exactly?" I asked her.
"In case we ever had a break in," she replied shining the flashlight on the wall. "But nothing had ever happened."
She ran her hand over the wall.
"I can't find anything," she said with an annoyed tone, "could my father have been lying?"
"I doubt it," I said. "May I see the flashlight?"
"Sure," she said handing it to me.
I bent down and looked at the ground. I ran my finger over the ground.
"Aha," I said, "hand me the key."
"What are you doing?" She asked handing me the key.
I had found a keyhole on the ground. I took the key and put it in the keyhole and turned it. I stood up and faced Shannon.
"Hold on," I told her.
"What?" She asked.
I stomped on the ground. The floor opened up and we fell downwards through the darkness. I fell to the ground with Shannon landing on top of me. I groaned from hitting the hard ground. I reached my arm out and found the flashlight. I turned the flashlight on and shined it on Shannon. She was lying on top of me.
"Shannon," I said, "I think we're moving too fast."
"Shut up you idiot," she said pushing me away from her.
I stood up and walked around the room we had fallen in. I found a light switch on the wall. I turned on the light. The room was about ten times bigger than the compartment we were just in. It had white walls and a white floor. In the corner of the room was a white door.
"Where's the key?" Shannon asked standing beside me.
"I thought you had it," I replied as an excuse for not knowing where the key was.
"No," she said, "I don't have it."
"Well I guess we're screwed then," I said with a sigh.
"How can you be so calm?" She asked, "What is wrong with you?"
"No need to panic," I said crossing my arms.
I looked up and saw the door that had once been the ground we were standing on. I found the keyhole and still saw the key inside of it. I held out my hand and had my palm flat. It about half a second after that the key fell out of the keyhole and into my hand.
"How did you do that?" Shannon asked.
"It's called Gravity, Shannon," I replied. "You have studied Sir Isaac Newton, haven't you?"
"Just give me the key," she said holding out her hand.
"No," I replied shaking my head. I closed my fingers around the key and walked towards the door. As I stood in front of the door I stepped on something. I looked down. It was a gun. I bent down and picked the gun up. I checked to see if there were any bullets in it. It was empty.
"Why would there be a gun in here?" Shannon asked.
"Maybe it was used to kill your father," I said, "it seems as if it was recently used...Would you mind terribly if I put this against you're forehead? In the place your father was shot?"
"I don't know-" Shannon said.
Without her answering my question I put the gun again her forehead. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a pen. I traced the circle the bullet hole made on her forehead. I took the gun away and inspected the circle I drew.
"I think this is the gun that was used to kill your father," I said.
I licked my thumbed and cleaned the ink off of her forehead.
"Let's move onto the next room," she said, "I'm ready to get out of here."
I unlocked the next door and we entered a small hallway. We walked for about five minutes until I ran into something causing Shannon to run into me.
It was another door.
I uncooked in and we stepped into a room. I found and light switch and turned the light on. The room looked the same as the last but one thing was different. In the middle of the room on the floor was a dead body lying in a pool of blood.
"Oh dear god," Shannon said covering her mouth. She gagged.
"Stay back," I said pushing her towards the door.
I walked towards the body and looked down at them. It was a woman in a maids outfit. They had a gigantic butcher knife through their stomach. They were definitely dead.
"It's all write," I said, "come here and watch out for the blood."
Shannon walked towards the body and stood beside me.
"It's our maid," she said.
Then I saw a piece of paper in the blood. I bent down and picked it up. There were words written on the paper.
"It says," I read from the paper, "If you found this you are a poor soul. If you found this, congratulations you now know I killed Joseph Parker. But you have unleashed something, something that is hard to escape. You were not supposed to know about me so you are going to be punished for it."
"Oh my god," Shannon said with a worried tone.
"I know," I replied, "she sounds like a hoot."
"We need to report this to the police," Shannon said turning her face away. She was obviously crying, her tears were falling on the ground.
"Yeah we should," I said walking towards the next door. I stopped and looked at Shannon.
I has never been a "soft guy" or ever comforted anyone, especially someone I had just met. I had only known Shannon for about three hours now. But I felt as if she needed a hug.
"Are you alright?" I asked her.
"To be honest," she said, "no. My father's dead and I will never see him again. It feels terrible."
I gave her a small hug then backed away and unlocked the next door.
