7. And So The Lion Fell In Love With The Lamb

Flashback

Before the Fall, everything was right. The angels were faithful to the Lord and it was peaceful everywhere we went. There was always light in our skies because of His presence. One day everything went dark and our souls which rejoiced in His presence felt lost. Everyone wondered 'What happened to our Creator?' 

Lucifer knew what had happened and had left. Where he went, nobody knew. There were rumors upon his arrival that he met with God's sisters, The Sun Goddess and The Moon Goddess. He asked for a companion, someone to share his limitless life with - and they agreed.

The goddesses were not without kindness. They loved their nephew, their Morningstar, like he was their own son. They would have spoiled him had their brother not been overprotective of his children. They granted him his companion, Sonya. She was made with the essence of the Sun Goddess, bringing light everywhere they went. Lucifer fell in love with her immediately. 

But God returned to His home in Heaven. He was angered by the work of his sisters and even more so by the request of his child.

"I give you a body, to enjoy as the mortals do. I give you wings to soar through the skies, reaching heights they could not dream of. I gave you immaculate beauty making every being green with envy. Why would you betray me this way?" He asked not unkindly. 

Lucifer looked at his father and said clearly, "I am grateful for all I have received from you, Father. However, my heart wavered in your absence and I would like to say I am sorry... But that would be a lie, and I will not lie to you. My love for my Father, my Creator, was absolute, until you abandoned your children. I am happy with my decision, proud even. I have fallen in love with Sonya and I wouldn't want it any other way." He looked to his Father, waiting for his reaction. Suddenly, something happened that surprised both Lucifer and his Father. First one, then two, then three angels stepped forward until eight stood behind him. He recognized them all! There was Azakiel, Kreda, Khristian, Pieter, Nikola, Achramen, Dmitri, Ophelia. One stepped forward and was recognized as Ophelia. She opened her mouth and her melodic voice rang out around them," Father we concede with Lucifer. If you deserve to be loved then why don't we? You abandoned us and expect us to continue like it doesn't break our hearts when you leave."

The room remained silent as God appraised his children. Then he said, "Very well, my children. I have only ever asked for your absolute love. I needn't anything else. However, Lucifer, if I cannot have that, then I shall grant you your wish of eternity with your Sonya. And, should she die, you shall all be stuck to rot until the end of time... In your new home." 

With that, Michael swooped down from his perch next to his Father, drew out his sword from it's sheath and fought his brother, who knew his intentions. He fought with all he had and, eventually, collapsed from exhaustion, watching as his brothers and sisters fought around him. Then everything went black.

When he woke, he wasn't in Heaven or a cell as he suspected. He was in a cave, curled next to Sonya. He smiled at her sleeping form.

Months turned to years, turning to centuries and eventually, Sonya grew pregnant. They traveled together and eventually came into contact with a phoenix clan. Lucifer was surprised to find more children of the Sun Goddess but was pleased nonetheless. They spent many months with the clan and Sonya made a friend, Rachael. They were as close as sisters and we soon found that she was bonded to Khristian. 

Lucifer sat with Khristian one night watching Sonya converse with Rachael across from them. "What do you think will happen to us?" Khristian asked. Lucifer looked at him, bored. "I couldn't care. I have the love of my life who is plump with my child, and my friend and brother by my side. I just want her by my side, forever, and I'll be content with life. I would have thought you would be too, with your mate." Lucifer rose from his seat and came to rest by his mate. 

Khristian watched as Rachael rose from her seat, after giving them some sort of privacy, and sat next to him. She leaned her head on his shoulder and whispered, "Do you know how happy I am to have met you?" He looked down at the miracle that was his. He couldn't help but feel that Lucifer was right, he was content with life by his mates side. 

He saw her raise her head and look at him. He looked into her blue eyes and she looked into his amber eyes, shook his head and said, "Not as happy as I am to have met you." He leaned down and kissed her plump lips, the color of rubies. She pulled back and whispered to him, "I have a surprise for you," she looked almost hesitant now as she whispered, "I'm pregnant."

Khristian looked into her blue eyes, so innocent and yet so wise. He swallowed past the lump in his throat and tried to breath past the grip on his heart. "Truly, Rachael?" He looked at her hopefully, thinking, perhaps my life was truly meant to be by her side.

She nodded her head eagerly, seeing the hope in his eyes and as he swung her around the room he screamed, "I'm going to be a father!" and she thought, maybe now my life can be complete.

Sonya rose from her seat beside Lucifer and they congratulated the new parents. The night was spent with Rachael and Sonya picking baby names and the future fathers watching them from afar, not wanting to disturb their fun. Khristian caught Lucifer's eye and they grinned at their mates, two grown women, acting like gossiping teenagers. 

Then something unexpected happened. Lucifer turned from Khristian and caught Sonya's eye from across the room. She looked at him with fear in her eyes. He rose from his seat and heard Rachael ask, "Sonya? What's the matter? Are you alright?" He could hear the worry in her voice but he muted her out and walked towards her. 

When he knelt before her, she whispered four words that froze his heart. "The baby is coming."

"And then I came along," muttered Lucien. I only nodded in agreement, my head bent in defeat.

We looked at each other and tears slipped down my cheek as I looked into his eyes, so like his father yet he held some of his mother in his features as well.

"You are the only son of Lucifer, the former left hand of God. You are my only nephew, and the second brightest star in the sky. You have done no crime against my father... Your grandfather," I had to smile at the thought of God being a grandfather.

I turned to Raven, mate of Lucien and said, "child, your parents loved you dearly. While Lucien's mother was giving birth, she asked your mother, Rachael, to care for Lucien should anything happen to her. Your mother agreed sorrowfully."

She grew depressed after Lucien's mother, Sonya, died. Her heart grew even heavier when Khristian told her he had to leave, while she was pregnant with you. When Lucifer had to go, he said goodbye to your mother who asked him to take his son. She said Lucien was the only thing left to remind him of his one true love. He cried as he held Lucien for the first time and when he said goodbye, he turned to Khristian, who had tear trailing down his cheeks as he looked at his mate, and said, 'I'm sorry my friend. My foolishness has caused us to lose our home and now the loves of our lives. I'll understand if you want to kill me, in fact I'd happily welcome the pain. I don't deserve the friendship you gave me Khristian, I'm so-' and was interrupted by a fist to the face by Khristian. He harshly said, 'you fool! We all followed you because we trust in you. I will see my mate one day, but you,' his voice cracked and tears trailed down his cheeks, 'you will never see her again Lucifer. You lost your love because our 'father', he spat," chose to let her die. We all followed because we believed in your beliefs. We still do.' Lucifer stood, barely feeling the pain of his jaw as they hugged and said their goodbyes and Khristian went up to Rachael, pressed his forehead to hers and whispered, "Rachael, you've made me the happiest man alive. I've got to go, but I want you to know that I'll always love you and my heart belongs to you. Remember me.' They walked away and as the sun came up, Rachael watched as they faded away, and her heart broke the further they went, until they disappeared."

I watched as Raven started crying and walked into Lucien's outstretched arms. He rested his head on hers, shushing her, tears racing down his face. Then he tensed and turned to me. "Do you mean, uncle, that Raven's father is Khristian?"

I nodded slowly, not knowing where this was going. He turned to Raven, wiped her tears away and looked into her eyes, saying clearly, "Raven, darling, your father isn't dead."
