Myles' POV
I walk through the school doors and instantly feel everybody's eyes look at me, I'm the popular kid that everybody wants to be friends or more with and I love it, I lead on girls for fun and then break their hearts because why should I care. However I do have a soft spot for one person but she hates me and I know that she's basically the only girl in the whole school who wouldn't kill for me to have a crush on them, and that's why I love Briar Nolet.
I walk through the corridors until I reach my locker, I swing the door open and pull out all of my books for the day that's when Briar, who's locker's next to mine, walks past me to get her books, I take this as my chance and grab her hand she looks me up and down
"what are you doing?" she asks in an almost bored voice, I do try this everyday so she is probably bored of me
"Don't try and lie to yourself, you want me." I say with a wink, she pulls her hand free from mine
"Yeah right" she mumbles as she walks away from me, I sigh and walk in the opposite direction.
Briar's POV
Why does Myles always try and get with me? I'm just a quiet, shy, nerdy girl and he's basically king bee, if that's a thing, why would he want me? I know what he's like though he pretends he's in love with you and then breaks your heart in two. I know what it feels like because it's happened to me...
Flashback
I was curled up with my boyfriend, Noah, we were watching a movie, well now we were actually watching the credits because we were both too lazy to turn them off. Noah's such a great guy, I could have anybody at school because I'm queen bee and I choose Noah, he's outgoing and confident and quarterback, I'm pretty and confident and head cheerleader, we're basically made for each other.
"Briar, I'm breaking up with you." He said bluntly
"What?" I ask taken a back
"You heard." He said whilst standing up "I've had my fun with you." he explained and then left my house, leaving me broke. After that I moved school and became a quiet, reserved girl.
I'm not falling for somebody who's just going to break my heart again.
I'm sat, minding my own business in history when I hear the teacher call out to the class
"the seating plan's being changed, look on the board to see your new seat." I lift my head up and find my name, which is right next to Myles. I sigh and move my stuff next to where Myles is already sat. He instantly wraps his arm around my neck and whispers in my ear
"this is going to me so much fun." this makes me sigh loudly again
"why can't you just leave me alone?" I ask him, that shuts him up for a few seconds
"because I really like you." he replies after he's thought about it
"Yeah right." I mumble before opening my book and beginning the lesson
Myles' POV
Why does she have to be so difficult? If I told any other girl in the school that I really liked her she'd probably have a heart attack but not Briar, she's stubborn and yet I want her so bad it hurts.
We're only half way through the history lesson and when I say it's dragging I mean like really dragging, like each second feels like an hour kind of dragging. Briar's refusing to speak to me and just sits there doing her work, ignoring me. I need to get to the bottom of this
"Briar, I'm being serious-" I begin before getting cut off
"Makes a change," she says
"It might make a change but I need you to answer one question, honestly, for me." I say, she looks me up and down before nodding her head slowly
"Why don't you like me?" I ask simply, I can see her mulling it over in her head before speaking
"Because I once trusted someone like you, and he broke my heart." she says quietly, sounding embarrassed, I cup her face in my hands
"I'd never hurt you." I whisper
" That's what he said." she says
"Please, open up to me, let me show you that I'm not who you think I am let me show you that you can trust another boy." I whisper, she thinks before slowly nodding her head "Is that a promise?"
"Promise."
