The trio head upstairs to check while I go around and check the bottom floor for intruders. The nightmare from last night still haunts me. And the fact my husband and brother could be anywhere worries me. I sit at the table when I finished, fiddling with the ring around my neck.
"Don't you have some type of messaging on your other heritage side?" A voice asks, causing me to jump. Hermione sits down next to me.
"I forgot about that," I chuckle.
"Probably scare your husband though," Hermione laughs. My eyes widen at that comment. Clearly we are bad at keeping this hidden.
"Shut up."
"Isn't it only legal in certain states?" She teases. Then she thinks for a second. "Oh wait. By wizard law, you are old enough to be an adult."
"Hermione, I swear, shut up or I will pour water from the River of Lethe on you."
She laughs at my threat, even though I am beyond serious. I mean, being the daughter of the king of the underworld, it would take no time.
"Honestly though, talk to him."
"I can't. No payment."
She nods her head as though she understands. She opens her mouth to say something, but quickly drops it as the boys walk in. We quickly inform one another on the discoveries. Or in my case, lack there of. Harry tells me that it was actually Sirius' brother who took the locket much to my surprise.
Wasn't he all 'pureblood is the best' or something like that. A noise comes from the cupboard and all of us draw wands. Some how I ended up with my wand for Egyptian magic though. Harry cautiously opens the door and the house elf named Kreacher falls out. Hermione is the first to speak.
"Do you know what Regulus did with the locket?" She asks.
"Kreacher will never answer a filthy mud-"
"Kreacher," Harry snaps. The house elf falls silent. Harry holds up the locket. "What do you know about this?"
"That is Master Regulus'. It had dark magic."
"Where is it now?" I ask.
"A man took it in the night."
"Find him," Harry sneers. The house elf snaps his fingers before disappearing in a flash.
"What do we do now?" I ask. Harry shrugs, so I excuse myself, grabbing an all-natural snack. I actually will take Hermione's advice and this is the best idea I have. The question is to figure out how to create a rainbow in this flat. Eventually, I end up in the restroom and pull back the shower curtain as I set the shower head to mist. Quickly,I lock the door and hold my wand in a certain position.
"Lumos," I mutter. The light hits the most just right and a rainbow is created. I honestly didn't think it would work. Now the true test. "Goddess Iris, please accept what I can offer."
I toss in the healthy small and it disappears. I hold my breath, waiting to see if it is sent back. Nothing else happens, so I mutter my husband's name. An image of the twins and Erik appear. The three of them are sitting and George is entertaining Erik. The image quickly flutters away before I can speak.
I cover my mouth, trying to hold back a sob, sinking to the ground. Of course the gods only tease me. I have never given them a reason to trust me. You know, besides fighting the giants and keeping a secret for as long as they wanted. But I guess following Luke and Scarlett does have its major consequences. Maybe they'll make it clear where I stand with them one day.
