Little By Little [Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan Fanfic]

It had been 5 years. 5 years since the titans attacked. Alice had been in the legion for 7 years. And during the attack, she almost lost her life. Almost. If it hadn't been for Lance Corporal Levi. 

During the Fall

"Run! Get out of here!" Alice had screamed at the child. She had to fight off the titans trying to get into Wall Maria when a little helpless girl had lost her way. The little girl panicked and stood still. She covered her ears. Where was she to go now? All hope for humanity was slowly dying down. 

And still, the girl wouldn't budge. Alice knelt down and and grasped her shoulder. 

"Do you want to live?" The girl stood quietly, but soon after nodded. Alice sighed. She couldn't leave her position. She had to keep them off. "Then run. Run, and live. Go experience. Keep running, soon you'll reach the gate." The girl nodded. She ran off to the gate. 

Alice then heard footsteps, footsteps that were too loud to be a normal human's. She turned around and faced it. 

"Such an ugly face." Alice whispered as she pulled out her sword. She was about to manuever into the building when she realized it didn't work. She hit it miraculously. 'Dammit, out of all times, now?!' She cursed quietly to herself. 

'This is it. This may be my last moment.' Then she had remembered what she told the little girl.

Run.

And she did. She dashed off to the right, avoiding the titan's hand. Her blue eyes kept her surroundings. Her dirty blonde hair swayed as she ran. She kept on running, with the titan behind her. She wanted to live. There were many things she wanted to experience. There was something she wanted to tell to a certain Corporal. 

She kept on running, running, until, to her dismay, tripped on her footing.

"Dammit!" She felt tears leaking out. Was she really going to die? Is this really the life she wanted to live? Is there any hope left? She closed her eyes as the titan's hand reached her.

"Mother, father, I'm sorry." She waited for the worse to happen. After all this was a cruel world. Wasn't it? 

After a few seconds, nothing had happened. Everything was quiet, then she heard a loud thud on the ground as it shook. 

"Huh?" She opened her eyes to see the symbol of freedom.
