Part II

“So what are you planning to do with your little dog?” They were at the Gems Nook, spending the afternoon with each other’s company. A rare opportunity, which they grab right away if time permits. They don’t really love to hang but they were left no choice. Deathly Gems is Tombstones top assassins. They cannot afford to reveal their identities to someone. Only Dead Heart and the Black Holes know who they really are. So despite the fact that they do not specifically enjoy each others company, they still try to.

“Shut up, Onix.” Forgotten Sapphire rose from the couch she’s sitting at and seductively sauntered her way towards the cub. “Cub…” She purred. “Do you want to play with me?” She asked, running her fingers over his muscled chest. She’s enjoïying the feeling of his muscles tensing at her slightest touch.

“You guys, leave the poor guy alone.” Their earphones buzzed and Dead Heart’s voice welcomed their ears.

‘Panthers are sending the other cubs there one by one so you can already start with the training. Come to my office one gem after another, you first sapphire.’ And just like the swiftness of a cat she disappeared. No it wasn’t magic. But she moves so fast that you haven’t even blinked your eyes, she already left the place. If Grim Onix boasts of his strength and fighting skills, Forgotten Sapphire is known for her speed and skill in handling weapons of different kinds.

She went inside the office without knocking and found a girl about 3 or four years younger than her to say the least. She has straight blond hair and small eyes resembling a cat. Her figure wasn’t really to be compared to hers but it is not that bad at all. She can see her being her junior in the field but she has to prove worthy of her attention first. “Is this my cubbie, Dead Heart?” Sapphire asked, circling the girl who seems to be unmindful of the scrutiny she’s receiving from her mentor.

Dead Heart grunted in response and mumbled over his microphone sending Grim Onix in.

“Come on, cubbie.” She walked off and motioned the cub to follow her.

After they were gone, a panther and another cub entered. “Sir, Cub6052. For the Grim Onix.”

“Alright, leave him here. Onix is on his way.” And sure enough there’s a brusque knock on the door and in Onix went as the panther went out to fetch the last cub. He’s a little short compared to the top cub, his body not as big as his but the muscle is still on it’s way to veing well-defined and still developing. He’s standing, waiting patiently for him. His eyes showing eagerness to be on top. Onix liked him, he sees himself in the cub.

“Hey, little pup. Let’s trot outta here.”

Black Star was the last and a girl with a wavy brown hair just like hers awaits her. She looks so thrilled to see her but was trying to hide it, albeit unsuccessfully, for a wide, excited grin broke from her pretty face as she saw her walk in regally inside the office.

‘A cub with an angelic, pretty face eh?’ She thought sadly.

“What’s your code?” She asked.

“Cub6037, miss.” She uttered, still smiling sweetly at her. She looks vulnerable and easily swayed but…

A flick of her fingers and Cub6048 knew what he has to do. One second he’s standing behind her small form, then next Cub6037 was caught surprised as he was alread tackling her to the ground. Black Star observed her two new cubs and she can say that the girl although would pass as a sweet little angel turns into a viscious viper in combat. She was pleased to say the least to have these talented cubs. They already got superior skills, what more if she teaches them her techniques and strategies? They would be invincible. They might even surpass her.

‘Then… Maybe if there’s someone much better than me, they’d finally release me? Would they do that?’

———

Two weeks. It was all it took for Black Star to train and pass her knowledge to her two cubs and after another week she allowed herself to be comfortable around them.

It has been a month and she couldn’t be much happier to have them. Today, particularly, she asked them to meet her in a restaurant she frequents and planned on letting them know who she really is behind the mask of the feared Black Star. She purposely let them get settled first in one the tables she reserved for thembefore walking in.

——-

“Oppa,” the girl sitting beside him nudge him slightly to gain his full attention. He raised his right eyebrow to show that he’s listening, while his eyes continued to discreetly scan the area and the faces of people coming in and going out of the restaurant. “What do you think does unnie look like?”

Since this is the first time they are meeting their mentor without a mask, they don’t know how she really looks like. Seunghyun shrugged for he doesn’t have any idea at all.

“Seunghyun oppa! Aigoo, I feel like I am just babbling here like a crazy person and you aren’t even paying attention to me!” Sulli pouted.

He was about to give his little yeo-dongsaeng a sheepish grin when a voice they’d recognize anywhere spoke behind them. “Yah, Choi Seunghyun. Why are you treating Sulli that way?”

They both stood, and quickly whirled to finally see Black Star bare-faced.

Whatever they’ve expected to see was clearly not what their eyes are seeing. Standing in frobt of them is a petite woman, whom you’d probably mistake as a teenage girl. She’s wearing a long loose black tank top with a tribal design staining the front of it. Her pair of trousers was a faded jeggings. She sported a pair of sneakers and her long wavy locks of brown hair was casually tied up in a messy bun revealing her little face. She was grinning like a mischievous kid at the both them. Since she isn’t wearing her 6 inch heels, she was shorter than both her cubs.

“Aren’t you going to apologize, Tabi??” She asked, tilting her head to the side to look up at him.

“You won’t really intimidate me with how you look like today boss. You look like a little teenage girl, right now.”

“OMG! Unnie! You’re so cute!!!” Sulli squealed. “People wouldn’t really think that you look like this.”

“Uh… should I be happy your reaction’s like this or should I be offended that you,” she pointed her finger to Seunghyun, “find me resembling a teenage girl and you,” dragging her finger towards Sulli, “find me adorable? I am trying to look fierce and hiphop-ish here, you know.”

No one spoke for a minute then all of them burst into fits of laughter. Other occupants were already glaring at them due to the noise they are creating.

“I guess I really don’t impose aura like what my other identity does, ain’t I?” she giggled at sat down on the unoccupied seat beside Sulli.

“It is just so surprising that the woman who everyone fears and admires because of her prowess in killing looks so delicate and small, boss. But our respect for you is still the same. It won’t change anything.”

“I agree, unnie. And you really are so pretty and cute. You don’t look like you’re in your late 20s already!”

“Even if I look like what other members of tombstones say I look?”

“Ha! You mean their assumptions that you look like a girl version of incredible hulk?” Sulli’s eyes widen after uttering those words. “You know what unnie? I actually believed them at first!”

“Tch! You always believe what other people say, Sulli. You should seriously change that attitude of yours. Don’t be too trusting.”

“Enough of this talk, cubs. Today, we’re leaving behind the matters underground and just enjoy ourselves, alright?”

“Yes, ma’am!” They chorused.

“Why don’t we start with feeling our grumbling tummies, eh?” Seunghyun stated as he raised her finger, signaling to the waiter to come and get their order.
