Part V

Sandara eyes the mansion from the tree she's hiding at. It is half past ten in the evening. It seems like the family is hosting a party tonight, which gives her a perfect opportunity to break in and complete her mission. She has finally convinced herself to just do it, and not ask questions.

Will she be able to carry out what she had planned? She doesn't know.

There is only one way to find out.

She springs to her feet, landing on the grass-matted ground from the big sycamore tree across the street. Swiftly, she sprints towards the high wall, the only barrier she has to pass before she can finally break in in the child's big sanctuary. There are guards patrolling here and there. She waits for this particular bulky uniformed man to look the opposite direction where she smartly hid herself before climbing the wall easily, not wasting even a second. She hops off the top of the wall to the adjacent tree. Another guard passes by and she pauses and holds her breath. The man is as bald as a coot. His head shining under the bright light casted by the majestic moon.

Hearing the light movement from the tree, he whirls around but had not let his eyes wander up the tree where Black Star is perched up waiting for the right moment to hop to the next tree.

When the bald guard did not hear any suspicious sound anymore, he turns on his heels and moves forward towards the other direction.

Not waiting for the bald one to turn and see her, Black Star heaved a deep, albeit in a silent way, breath. Then, hops from one tree to another, discreetly and noiselessly, her boots lightly touching the branches of the trees.

When she finally is on the last one she blended well in the darkness, staying out from the bright lights coming through the windows.

Black Star crouches and traces her way towards the back of the mansion where the target is probably being tucked in by his nanny, whispering good night and wishing for the sweetest dream to enter in his sleep.

She sees the light being switched off just in time. Sandara, without breaking her determined gaze from the child's balcony, feels for the rope hooked on her side as she prepared to climb up. She throws it up and, immediately, the metal hooks itself on the the balcony railings.

She tests it, making sure it wouldn't loose its hold on the stone railing. Then she starts pulling the rope, propelling herself up while she expertly walks on the wall. When she sees that she's almost near the balcony, pushes her feet, and swings her body to reach the balcony and climb over it.

She, then, unlocks the door.

Black Star hovers over the bed where an angelic little boy sleeps. She had been staring at him for a good thirty minutes now. She had managed to go past through the heavily guarded mansion, still at a loss as to why someone would want to harm an angel like him.

Her resolve is slowly melting. She thought that she'd somehow be able to force herself to do her job, thinking of the many times she had to kill mercilessly but this one is different. All her target were already adult, and she had somehow learned to tell herself that they have done something that would give a person the reason to want him or her wiped out of the surface of the earth.

However, this little child is a bundle of innocence; she surely will not be able to brainwash and make herself believe that he had done an unforgiveable guaranteeing his immediate death.

The moon serves as the only light in the room, the curtains billowing as the silent cold air caress its fine cloth. The glass doors of the balcony open as this was what she had used to get in the bedroom.
