Will paced around in the empty corridor. Every few seconds his eyes flicked towards the door in front of him, its stained oak appearance seemly imposing and he considered the man waiting within. You see Will's grades weren't looking anywhere near acceptable these days, especially his culinary work. As such he was sentenced to stay after school and attend a meeting to discuss his slipping grades with none other than Mr Lecter.
Mr Lecter was the culinary teacher, he was an artist in his own right but there was something about him that Will found disturbing. The gleeful smile that spread across his face as he demonstrated how to gut fish. The way he seemed all too comfortable and experienced with a knife, even for a former chef, made Will's skin crawl. That's the main reason Will's grades started to deteriorate, he was more focused on remaining unnoticed by Mr Lecter than his work.
Will's eyes snapped back to the door before him as he heard a chair being pulled out.
He was definitely inside then. Waiting for me.
Heart rate slightly quickened and breathing shallow, Will considered his options.
He could run, run home as fast as he could and avoid the whole situation. But that meant getting a detention and he really didn't have the luxury of throwing away two hours of his time after school, and even after all that he may still have to serve out his tutoring with Mr Lecter. Just at a later date. But Mr Lecter was a creep plain and simple, with his freakishly good sense of smell and affinity for making people uncomfortable. Mr Lecter was a highly intimidating man.
Will knew there was only ever one real option. He had to bite the bullet and sit through this meeting; it would be over in something like ten minutes, right? Will thought to himself.
Taking a deep breath, Will's hand reached for the cold brass door handle... Just as it was being opened from the other side.
"Mr Graham?" Will was face to face with his worst nightmare. Blood running cold Will swallowed roughly as he looked up into soulless, cold, piercing brown eyes.
"I-I-I'm sorry I'm late Sir." Will's anxiety was causing him to stutter. Mr Lecter ignored him.
"Take a seat Mr Graham-"Mr Lecter motioned to the chair pulled out in front of his desk."-We have a lot to discuss."
Will slowly walked sat down and gingerly pulled his chair closer to the desk. Mr Lecter sat behind his desk, a slight smirk on his lips.
"You look nervous Mr Graham, I can assure you there is nothing to worry about. Maybe you would like some water to calm your nerves?" Mr Lecters tone was static and unrevealing to a single shred of human emotion.
Will didn't reply as Mr Lecter poured him a glass of water from the pitcher on his desk and presented it to him. Will took the glass reluctantly and took a sip, before placing it down in front of him.
"So Will, what exactly is the problem? Your grade have only begun slipping recently after all, is it something at home? School?" Mr Lecter looked intently at Will, Will could only fearfully try to avoid his eyes instead looking towards the water in front of him, his reflection staring back.
"Or maybe it is not what- But whom?"- Will was surprized by this one, did Mr Lecter know of his acute fear of him? Well It would be difficult not to notice the signs of his anxiety, but at the same time he was sure he had never made his fear that obvious.
"Is it this girl Alana that's distracting you?" Will let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding. A crush of course the perfect cover.
"Well, I guess. She is very beautiful sir." Mr Lecter's eyes betrayed jealousy but due to Will's relief at his supposed cover he failed to notice.
"I see-" Mr Lecter didn't betray his inner emotions, but soon he would. Will drank some more of his water, letting the cold liquid cool his reddened face.
"Well I guess since that's the only problem all I can do is to ask you to focus on your studies more. She's a lovely girl but I fear in the future you might regret such fascinations." Will sensed the meeting was going to be cut short, he was internally ecstatic.
"Yes sir-" Will replied all too eagerly "Of course I understand. Is that all?" His eyes looking towards the classroom door with longing.
"Yes that is all Mr Graham, but before you go I would recommend you finish your drink?" Without considering the strange request Will took hold of his glass and downed the remaining liquid in one.
"Done." Will stated a smile on his face; this meeting hadn't been nearly as bad as he anticipated. He was more than eager to get home and forget this had ever happened. Mr Lector stood from his desk, and motioned towards the door.
"You may leave-" Will pulled out his chair and started to get up "If you can, that is."
Wills head began to feel foggy, his eyes flickering. If I can? What does he-
Wills body crumpled and collapsed into Hannibal's arms. As Wills consciousness faded he looked up to see Mr Lecter's signature smirk, fear overcoming him.
Hannibal pulled Will into his arms, cradling the young man. He runs a hand along Will's jaw, sliding his hand into his dark curls, pressing a cherished kiss onto his forehead, inhaling his scent. As Will's eyes finally closed Hannibal rested the unconscious man's head onto his chest, holding him tightly.
Looking up with half lidded eyes Hannibal spoke out to himself.
"You had such potential Will, now your life will serve a different purpose."
