Chapter 7: A New Player

Connected. Hello Corporal.

Parker: Hi Zenith. Captain Harkin said to get my orders from you?

Zenith: Yes. Three days ago a marine battalion was dispatched to Sojourn V to push Covenant forces out of the capital, New Harmony. All of the Marines were wiped out in what we believe was a Scarab attack. All but one squad.

Parker: Who was it?

Zenith: Knight Squad, led by a Sergeant Dmitri Starlov.

Parker: Dmitri? Still knocking round with the Marines is he? Thought for sure someone like him would be in the Helljumpers by now.

Zenith: Why, have you encountered him previously?

Parker: Yeah, I was with him in Arcadia, back when I was in the Marines. I was only a private and we were in the same squad back then. Fought alongside him, protecting the evacuation transport. Still don’t want to think about what happened there.

Zenith: Well you’re in luck then. They are keeping a radio broadcast on repeat, asking for an evac. We have other plans. Another assault is planned for this week but we want to pull them back first so we can relay any reconnaissance they have gathered to the commanders.

Parker: Why the urgent assault if we’ve just been massacred?

Zenith: Reports from ONI spies still holed up around the city indicate the presence of a lower level prophet in the area. We want a bargaining chip. So we are going to add them to the advance team with your squad and while the main assault batters their defences, you slip in and capture or kill their leader, if necessary. Understood?

Parker: Sure. When do we drop?

Zenith: Get suited and booted by o-one-hundred hours. And prepare for a hot drop.
