Piper waited patiently for the rabbit to feel safe and secure. Funny, it thinks that it is safe from harm when really danger is right around the corner. She readied her arrow and pulled the string back to her cheek. Deep breath in then out...then let the arrow fly. Of course it hit right on target. She leaped over the rotten long and put her hand to the forehead of the dead rabbit. "Rest in peace brother. May your spirit forever be at peace." She gently put the rabbit in the bag with the rest. 'That should be enough' she thought and slung the bag over her shoulder. She began to run towards the reserve careful to not step on anything dangerous. Her feet were quick and she was agile. It would take a bit to get back so as she ran she hummed a tune. A tune her mother used to sing when she was young. Her mother had been one of the pale ones. Her mother had left long ago for some rich pale man. Piper barely remembered her, and anytime she asked her father refused to say a word. She only remembered her mothers blonde hair and changing eyes. The eyes were the only thing she had inherited from her mother.
The village came into sight and she ran past her friends who were grooming horses. She went straight to the skinners tent. She sat down and waited."Rabbit skin?"the skinner asked. "Rabbit and squirrel."she answered. They talked softly in their native language. "Go clean up. Tonight ceremony."he nodded. I left the tent straight to my own that sat near the chiefs. My fathers.
All i hoped was i could avoid the pale ones for tonight.
