"Suzue! The steak will be ready in 15 minutes! Is that enough time?!"

"When did you say they were coming again?"

"How could you have a boyfriend you didn't tell us about?!"

"Clean your room!"

"Mom! They're not even gonna see my room when they-"

"There's still a chance! Clean it!"

"I don't have any time!"

"Don't argue with your mother!"

"Dad!"

Ugh! I plop down on the floor in the now spotless living room, fed up with my parents' worrying. Ever since I told them about Masa coming to visit with his parents, they started panicking. The second I told them we were having guests, the house was abuzz with senseless cleaning. They weren't even that upset about me keeping our relationship a secret. They were too busy.

Of course, I didn't tell them about the whole confusing engagement thing. How could I? The guy I was bringing over was going to be my future husband? Yeah, right. Like I could tell my parents that and survive the lecture I'd get!

I decided to just make this night about introducing our family to each other.

"Wear something nice, Suzue!"

"Mom, it's not that serious...." I growl to myself. My parents can't hear me, they're all over the house. I shake my head at the idea of dressing up for my first impression. Masahiro's parents were going to have to like the real unladylike me before I started getting fancy! That's just the kind of girl I am, and the kind of girl Masahiro fell in love with.

I decided to remain in my casual hoodie and instead started wiping at the puddle of tea my mother had spat out earlier when she heard about how fancy Masahiro and his parents were. I had never been to Masa's house, but he had told me on frequent occasions that he was from a wealthy family.

Besides, his noble presence alone gave it away! One of his other fascinating traits.

For the next half hour, I'm cleaning at such a normal pace that my parents actually shoo me out of the same room they'd cleaned at least 3 times today to eliminate any spots they'd missed. I roll my eyes at them, but I can't help but feel a sudden twist of anxiety in my chest as the time draws near for the visit. I was a really casual kind of girl and tended to not care what others thought of me, but this was Masahiro and his parents we were talking about. I really did want to make a good first impression, and I wanted my parents to like him....

I should have a kimono somewhere..and maybe a bit of eyeliner...

"Just this once!" I turn on my heel and prepare to rush to make myself just a bit more presentable. I was surprised to be this nervous all of a sudden, but I guess it shows how much I loved and cared about my boyfriend and his family.

KNOCK KNOCK!

My heart sinks when I hear that our guests had finally arrived. And just when I thought to actually dress up for once.

What a failure I am...

"I'll get it..." I whimper as I jog over to the door , but my parents practically tackle me to get there before me. I stumble and fall back on my butt with a THUMP and a curse while my parents throw open the door and put on their social faces.

"Why, hello!"

"What a surprise this is-- oh...."

When Masahiro rushes up to hug them, things start playing in slow motion. He's dressed in a black tux with red flower petals on the design, the colors contrasting well with his clear, amazing skin. His platinum, snow white hair is slicked back in an elegant, formal style. He looked like a freaking movie star walking into our little hovel of a home. My parents took a step back and had to shield their eyes from the rays of light that burst from his gorgeous pearly white smile.
