Chapter 5
As me and Chauncey shuffled through the woods looking for limbs, I realized that the sun was almost straight up in the sky. It must almost be noon. I looked down at my watch and my suspicions were correct.
“Hey Chauncey, it’s 11:45, we better start heading back now.” Yeah, we don’t really need to worry about getting too many more limbs, since we already have about 20 piles of them. Yeah, we work hard!
“Okay, let’s start with those piles right over there?”
“Sounds good to me.”
Claire’s POV (flashback to a couple days ago)
High school sucks. I followed Katie and our group of ‘friends’ towards the cafeteria for our lunch period.
“Hello, Claire? Did you even here what I said?” I guess not if I didn’t answer you the first time…bitch.
We’re now at our table. And the most disgusting sight caught my eye. All of our ‘friends’ are staring at the captain of the football team. Lucas Cale. Gross.
I had to look away, and as I did I saw him. Now that ass was hot, captain of the lacrosse team and captain of the debate team. Yes, this was a sight worth looking at…
“Uh, no sorry. What did you say?”
“I asked for your opinion on Lucas Cale. You’ve been basically drooling over him for the past five minutes.” Ha! That’s what you think whore! I’m actually staring at one of the more chivalrous male bodies in the eleventh grade… Yes, smart, athletic, and completely polite.
And don’t forget completely sexy! Chocolate brown long, but trimmed, hair and electric blue eyes. Six-two and all the muscles in the world…Yeah, definitely better than that whore of a man Lucas Cale.
You couldn’t have asked for more from one man on this planet.
“Haha, yeah, he’s okay I guess?” Well what am I supposed to say when I think he’s repulsive?
“Just ‘okay’?!” Damn! These bitches know how to scream! And now everyone’s looking at our table…including him. Great.
“What the hell do you think you’re looking at?!” My voice just loud enough for everyone in the cafeteria to hear. But not quite to the point of a scream. Just as quick as they turned to see what had happened, they whipped back to their regular conversations. Acting as if nothing had ever happened.
Just the way I like things.

After that I grabbed my bag and calmly left the cafeteria. I had absolutely no intentions on staying after that little scene.
And now walking in the hallway that leads to the big field, I was acutely aware of a body following. I figured it was just Katie wanting to know what was up.
So I waited for her to catch up. I turned around waiting for the interrogation to begin. But as I pivoted I realized it was NOT Katie. It wasn’t even a girl.
It was him. The one I despised the most. The one who reminded me of all of the girls with broken hearts and crying faces. The whore of a man who thinks he’s hot shit and has the right to just come and go as he pleases.
Lucas Cale.
Hell no was I going to stand around here and wait for him to say something!
So I turned on my heel and was about to walk away but he lashed out as quick as lightening and tugged on my wrist. I guess he was expecting me to just collapse in his arms or something.
