Chapter 10

The next day Regina woke up to a room unfamiliar to her. Suddenly everything came drifting back, the events of last night being recollected. Suddenly she looked down at the pirate. His face was swollen with red welts.

"Killian!" She exclaimed waking him up. His face has a look of surprise as he was startled out of sleep.

"Where ... wha-"

"Kilian your face is covered with welts!" The realization hit him. He groaned.

"It's ok." he assured her quickly. "It must be the rum. I'm allergic."

"The rum?" She murmured under her breath.

"How else do you think this would happen!?" He looked down at the messy bed, the space between them.

"You didn't seem drunk."

"Well I was. The truth is I'm just a cowardly deckhand. I was drinking the rum because of stress. I can't captain a pirate ship!" Regina was taken aback. He didn't love her. He didn't even care about her! "I need to care for my face." He explained sheepishly pulling himself out of bed and into the bathroom.

Regina had no idea what to do as he awkwardly removed himself from the room. She pulled on her clothes and ran across the room trying to flee quickly. As she tiptoed into the hall she turned to close the door quietly behind her.

"Mom?" Henry still couldn't bring himself to call her Regina.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm ... " She paused awkwardly. "I was helping Killian. He had an allergic reaction on his face. I've lived in the woods awhile. I know all about allergic reactions from plants in the forest." Henry nodded and dismissed the answer. Regina hustled off to her room.

Killian was back to acting like a cowardly deckhand. He avoided eye contact with everyone, and stuttered around. For lunch Regina urged Henry for them to eat in their room and forge a plan to rescue Emma. Really, she wanted to avoid Killian. Killian ate his lunch in his quarters too, very nervous around the crew that could turn on him at any point. Suddenly he heard a noise.

Regina and Henry heard the noise as well, and the three happened to meet on the stairway to the upper deck.

"What is it!?" Regina asked, terrified. As they reached the deck the three stopped.

"It's ...." he paused. The small ship for quick escape was gone, along with the entire crew. "They've left us. We're alone." Regina's eyes widened frightened.

"Can we still get to the Island?"

"Of course. As long as the lad wasn't lying about me teaching him to captain this ship." Killian smiled gently at Henry. Henry's face lit up. "So lad, are you lying?"

"No," Henry exclaimed, "I'm not lying about anything!"

--------------------

Later that day they were getting close to the Island. Regina was getting antsy. She hadn't felt solid ground beneath her feet in a while. She tiptoed to Killian's quarters and knocked on the door to check on their progress.

The door swung open and Killian stepped out of it. "Uh, ... I was just checking on how close to the island we are?"

"Regina!' Killian was taken aback. Embarrassed, the coward couldn't even look her in her eyes. "Well uh yes ... It won't be longer than a few hours."

"Thanks." she murmured hastily rushing off down the hall.

--------------------

Henry was exhausted. He hadn't been able to sleep the last couple nights on the ship. He was sitting at the dock observing the come waves lapping against the sides of the boat. There wasn't much to do and Henry was exhausted. Just as his eyelids became nearly impossible to keep open he saw something amazing.

The island came into view. It was huge and reminded him of his days on Neverland, though it looked much less wild. He saw the tower high atop the mountain where Emma was being kept.

"Mom!" He called, full of excitement and determined to save her "I'm here. No matter what ... I will always find you!"

Up atop the mountain, high in the tower, Emma heard him. The power of true love brought his voice to her. For her to hear, to console her. She crawled off the ground where she had lied down in defeat. He shakily climbed to her feet, and fought her way towards the natural light. Appearing in the window, she looked up surveying. There was the Jolly Roger! It was too far away to see anyone on board but somehow she knew. "Not just you." She croaked. "But Killian too."
