Chapter 4

I met up with Angie and she took my hand as we walked down the halls. All that I could hear was the jangle of Angie's bracelet and all that I could feel was the excitement of eating with Nate. I could only wonder what I was going to say, how was I even going to act? God, my neck already hurts from looking up at him all day. He's so tall and has those dreamy gray eyes. God I can see my future through his eyes. 

I only noticed then that Angie and I were standing in the middle of the hallway. Angie was staring at me with a huge smirk on her face.

" You might want to wipe that dreamy look on your face, Juliet!"  Angie laughed at me as I blushed hard.  

"Shut up!  I'm not day dreaming about Nate!"  Angie laughed even harder as I realized what I said. 

"Come on, Casanova.  We're at the lunch room.  I hope you have a speech ready!"  

As we walked down the rest of the hallway, I could feel the butterflies fluttering in my stomach.  Angie pushed open the doors to the lunchroom and we walked towards the fruit bar.

"How much does the fruit bar cost?"  I asked as I pulled out my wallet.

"Oh honey,  the fruit bar is free!"  Angie said.  I took a tan colored tray and piled fruit and lettuce onto the tray and turned around.  I scanned the room looking for Nate as someone hugged me from the back.  I turned my head and laughed as Nate smiled down at me.

"Oh my god, Nate what are you doing!" I laughed at him.  "Someone is going to see us!"

"Your silly, no one is going to think anything!"  He said to me as he looked down at me and smiled.  I hugged him back as he squeezed my arms.  

"I notice your wearing my ring, Kami.   I just love the way it fits with all your other rings.  Just do me a favor and never punch me, okay?"

"Oh, Nate!  I would never."  I said as I looked up at him.  

"Hey lovebirds, you might want to separate before someone starts a rumor that you were making out in the janitors closet!"  We both jumped apart as I blushed hard..... again.  I smiled angrily at Angie.  She smiled in amusement back at me.  

"Come on lovebirds,  I wanna eat.  Plus my boyfriend is waiting."  I looked at Angie in surprise and then realized.  Angie is beautiful, smart, and fun.  Of course she has a boyfriend.  She probably has a line of guys waiting to date her.  

We walked over to a table and I was not shocked to see a cute guy sitting there.  

"Hey!  I hope you saved me a seat!"  Angie said lovingly as she put down her tray next to the boy.  "Kami, this is Grant, my boyfriend.  Grant, this is Kami, my best friend."  Grant's eyes met mine as he smiled.  He spoke in a deep voice that had amusement laced in it.

"I'm glad Angie finally found someone that she doesn't scream at every five seconds.  I'm Grant.  Nice to meet you."  

" Nice to meet you to.  I'm Kami.  I just moved here. "  I said warmly.  Angie smiled at me warmly. 

"Nate, nice to see you again!  It's been awhile, hasn't it?"  Grant said to Nate with a smile.  

"Yeah, it's been like, a couple weeks, right?"  Nate said with an even wider smile.  

"Man, its great to talk to you again.  We should hang out sometime."  Grant said.

"How about this weekend?"  Nate said.

"Yeah, lets do it!  My place?"  Grant said questionably.

"I'll be there!"  Nate said as they did that bro hug that no girl will ever understand.  

Angie and I made eye contact as the boys kept talking.  We both looked back at each other and laughed hard as they were talking about four wheelers and  hunting.  

I looked lovingly at Nate before he could notice as Angie looked lovingly at Grant.  Angie and I looked back at each other and smiled once again as we began to eat.
