The last knife I throw is to protect you
L watched the (H/c) haired girl practicing her usual techniques on one of the surveillance cameras. She was Mostly throwing dangerously sharp throwing knives. She was graceful but yet deadly.
He met (Y/n) when they were scouting for someone to be a "bodyguard" more or less, someone just who knew how to protect themselves or...him for example.
He first laid eyes on the girl when he and Wateri were scouting the many people showing combat skills or bruit strength. Out of the many men L noticed a (H/c) girl fighting a man much taller and larger then her, he stood infront of the glass, waiting to see what would happen. The man went for the punch, the girl didn't seem fazed. She threw a punch directly to his ribs and the other to his shoulder,paralyzing the mans left arm. She then laid a solid kick to the mans chest sending him to the ground. She stood there, everyone cheered, she just looked down at the man she beat, holding a hand towards him, helping him up. L couldn't hear what the man said, all he could do was watch the girl shrug then walk off to another part of the training center. He followed the girl, he couldn't place his finger on it but..it was something about her. He watched her pick up a rather large knife, placing it in a holder on her belt, she picked up more knives. Placing each and everyone of them in her sleeve or on her belt. Finally she squared up to the target, she took one deep breath before firing the first knife hitting the target spot on, then another one, another one, one after the other until she had no more. Everone finding their mark..no misses..no distractions..every single one met their mark.
"Watari, I believe we found our person." Said L.
Ever since, (Y/n) was by L's side L couldn't help but have feelings for the girl, her beauty, her love for what she does, they way she cares deeply for him. He...he loved her. He had to tell her...but what would happen? He couldn't think of that. He had to focus on the kira case.
"Just do it." He mubbled to himself, he knew her for what? A year and a half. Just do it.
"L?" He heard (y/n) call his name.
"What is it (y/n)?" He turned his chair around to face her.
"Higuchi is on the move." (Y/n) turned around to walked away when L got up and grabbed her arm.
"Wait (y/n)...I have to tell you something." L could feel his cheeks turn pink.
"What is it L?" (Y/n) raised an eyebrow.
"I have been intoxicated by your beauty."
"L, you okay?" She was very confused.
"(Y/n)...I'm in love with you." L finally said, his cheeks turning red.
He then felt (y/n) pulling him into a kiss.
"I'm in love with you too, L." (Y/n) rested her forehead agenst L's. He sighed in relief.
"I'm so happy you feel the same."
With that light came in.
"L and (Y/n). Higuchi is almost here. (Y/n) you better get ready." (Y/n) nodded walking towards the door.
"Ready? What is she gonna do?" L asked confused.
"She's following him on her motorcycle." Light stared at L.
"That's too dangerous!" L protested.
"L, I'll be fine." (Y/n) placed a hand on his cheek. "It will be fine." She then walked away.
"C'mon ryuzaki, we have to follow them."
"Okay"

" Ryuzaki, I'm in pursuit." (Y/n) followed Higuchi's car.
"Be careful (Y/n)." Light said.
She continued to drive through the the traffic, slowly getting behind a couple of cars.
"He's getting pulled over." (Y/n) saw the red and blue lights pull over the red car. Not even a minute passed, he took off, the cop followed trying to pull him over. Until the cops motorcycle started to swerve, the cop grabbed his heart. Crashing into a rather large truck.
" Ryuzaki! He killed the cop!" (Y/n) yelled. Higuchi looked in his review mirror, seeing her. "Shit! He sees me!"
"(Y/n), get out of there!" L said, you could hear the helicopter above you. She drove closer to the car, she was trapped between another car. Her only choice was to plead into the row of cars and try to get out of there..
But fate had something else in store. Higuchi swerved the car toward (y/n)'s bike, before she knew it. (Y/n) had to pick between being ran over by dozens of cars or to try and jump onto Higuchi's car. Seconds before her bike hit the truck beside her, she jumped on to the top of his car. Higuchi took notice to this, he swerved, trying to get (Y/n) of the car. (Y/n) took the opportunity to grab a knife from her belt and stab it into the roof of the car, she held on to the handle of the knife as Higuchi swerved pass other cars.
"We have to help her out!" Light yelled, L bit his lip in agony.
"There's a bridge ahead, we'll stop them there." L tried to maintain his calm expression, but inside he wanted to cry and save her.
"Ryuzaki, look!" Light pointed to the rows of officers lined up on he bridge. At this time Higuchi slammed on the breaks, he tried to reverse his car.
"Wateri, do you have a clear shot?" L asked,
"Yes."
"Don't hit (Y/n)."
Higuchi's vehicle drove straight for the helicopter, but was stopped when Wateri shot one of the tires. The car spun and hit the side of the bridge, cops soon surrounded the car. (Y/n took the opportunity to stand up on the roof,
"Give it up, Higuchi. You're completely surrounded." Said the chief. Higuchi stepped out, he looked up at (Y/n), he gave her a smirk, she just glared in return.
"We got him, Ryuzaki " (Y/n) sighed in relief, she smiled at L in the helicopter, he returned the smile. (Y/n) went to step down from the car when she heard Higuchi yell.
"If I'm going down, I'm taking one more person!" He then pulled out a gun and aimed it at the girl on top of the car, within a second a shot was fired and a knife was thrown.
"(Y/n)!" Both L and light yelled at the same time, Higuchi screamed at pain as he looked at the small knife in his wrist. (Y/n) stumbled back, she gripped her chest and fell back off the bridge. Everything went silent as they all saw her fall
"Oh my God, (Y/n)!" Matsuda, yelled. He then ran over to the edge of the bridge to see where she landed. Just the Higuchi started to gasp for air,
"What's happening to him?!" Asked light, but L still sat in shock. L then screamed,
"(Y/n)!" He tried to get out of the helicopter but was stopped by light.
"Ryuzaki, there's nothing you can do! She's gone!" Light could see tears form in L's eyes, "Matsuda, get some officers to retrieve (Y/n)'s body." Light said flatly.

L had arranged her funeral, the worst part of it was that when they found her she had landed on her throwing knives. The gun shot in her chest and some stab wounds in her back, L was usually a calm and collective guy, but he had just lost the first girl he had feelings for. So when he had some alone time with her, he broke down,
"You have protected me from so much, why couldn't I have protected you?"
