Tava woke up, blinking up at the ceiling of the infirmary. Her vision was quickly filled with Yggdrasil's smiling face in a light shade of green. "Are you recovering adequately Captain?"
Tava struggled to sit up and smiled in relief when Yggdrasil propped the bed up to help support her. "As well as I can be I suppose." She reached up, fingers gently probing her face and the bandaging over her right eye.
"I would suggest allowing yourself at least three days time to heal. Another week beyond that with continued use of your eye patch, gradually working up to going without it completely. The implanted prosthetic will likely cause headaches until your brain has had a chance to acclimate to the increased optical input."
Tava slowly smiled as Yggdrasil handed her some pain killers and a small cup of water. "Anything else I should know about my replacement eye?"
Yggdrasil smiled a little wider. "If you would like the mechanical breakdown of the prosthetic I would suggest talking to Kit. However, discussing much of anything with him has become problematic what with his increased workload, repairing everything the electrical beings tampered with."
Tava swallowed down her pills and water before she snorted in amusement. "I can imagine. No, as long as it's just a matter of healing, I think I can skip the engineering that went into it. Though, he did do a fantastic job. I'm surprised he refuses to take any credit."
"He is an odd one. He demonstrates a massive streak of pride and arrogance, yet, he downplays various achievements."
"Maybe Jornea is rubbing off on him." Tava swung her feet off the bed and got up, taking a moment to make sure she had her balance before taking a step. "Anyways, thanks for the upgrade Doc. Let me know if there's anything I can do in return. In the meantime, I'd like to get this mission underway."
Yggdrasil followed along behind Tava as she exited the infirmary and headed for the galley. "Keep in mind you are to be taking it easy."
Tava grinned. They soon arrived in the galley where Kit was grumbling under his breath. Probably Yhanese and most likely nothing complimentary given the way he was glaring daggers at Kartk. The Human was glaring right back, steaming in anger himself. They must have just finished an argument, or been chided into stopping by Jornea, who was whistling a pirate song that was well known for being raunchy.
She stopped whistling as she finished cooking up the evening meal and turned to put it on the table between the simmering males. Grinning, she ignored them both as she beamed at Tava and Yggdrasil. "Hey! You're all finished up. Good! Does this mean we're finally going to learn why we're hanging out around the Canddes Militia base?"
Tava nodded as she sat down next to Kartk and accepted the plate shoved towards her. "Yep. This base acts as an information hub for most of the orders leaving settled space and going deeper out into the wilder systems. I'd like to check their records for anything related to my husband and do a little sabotage to shut the place down for a bit. The less Hask can communicate and coordinate, the longer we have to pull together allies before he tries to take power."
Jornea nodded as she plopped down beside Kit and dished him some barbecued meat and vegetables from her pan. "Sounds fun. How do we do that?"
Tava held out her plate when Jornea gestured for it and watched the pilot fill it as she spoke. "There's a central control room where most everything is overseen and effected. If Kit and I can get in there, we can take control of the entire base. Then Kartk can do some destruction to the satellite relay bank set up all along the southern side of the base. A chain reaction should be just the thing to put them out of operation for a good long while."
