Josh opened his eyes and he found himself staring at the blue sky. The clouds passed by fast as the wind dragged them over the sky. Slowly he sat up and looked around confused. There was trees, birds singing and the sun shining brighter than ever. But how could this be? He died. He was dead, gone. So why was he still breathing? Why was he still feeling? Slowly he got up on his feet and saw that he was in the middle of the forest. It wasn't just any forest though, it was the one him, Tyler and Brendon used to hang out in.
Josh heard a voice coming not far away from where he was. He thought that if he found the person that was singing, he might get answers to what's going on. He walked towards the voice and it became louder and clearer.
"~Down in the forest", a known voice sang, "We'll sing a corus. One that everybody knows'", a soft and wonderful voice sang, "Hands held higher, we'll be on fire. Singing songs that nobody wrote~"
Josh found himself in front of a big tree. He looked up and saw a tree house with a ladder that only reached half way down the tree. He looked in som bushes, and saw the rusty ladder. He grabbed it and placed it in the wholes in the ground. He leaned it up against the tree as the singing became clearer and clearer. When he'd reached the top he slowly opened the hatch and climbed inside the tree house. As soon as he was inside he closed the hatch and sighed. He looked around the tree house and spotted someone. His eyes widened at the sight of who it was.
"Hey Josh", he said with a smile.
Tears began to build in his eyes, but this time in a good way. It was Tyler. He was there. As soon as Josh realized that Tyler was infront of him he gave him a hug attack. Tyler laughed as they both fell on the wooden floor.
"I thought I was never going to see you again", Josh said with tears rolling down his face, "You died!"
Tyler hugged back tightly and burried his face in Josh's shoulder.
"So did you"
Josh broke the hug and looked Tyler in the eyes. They were different than what he remembered. They were brighter, and there was more happiness in them. He smiled as he cupped Tyler's cheeks and leaned in. Their lips met and Josh couldn't help but smile. He thought that he would never be able to kiss Tyler again. And there they were. Kissing in the tree house after they'd both died. Tyler broke the kiss and leaned his forhead at Josh's.
"If we're both dead, why are we alive?"
"We aren't", Tyler answered.
"I feel alive"
"You can be dead and still feel alive. Just like you can be alive and still feel dead", Tyler said.
"Are you sure this isn't life?"
"Yes. The truth is life, and life isn't here. This is what's left of our minds", Tyler explained, "We could build a rocket ship and fly far away. To another galaxy if we want to. This is our place. Our place of happiness. We can control whatever happens here. We're now going to stay here together forever. No fathers, no mothers, no rules", Tyler said, "And no Brendon ruining the moment", he said with a laugh, "Even though I will miss him"
Josh grabbed Tyler's hand and interviewed their fingers together with a smile.
"So, it's going to be just the two of us together for the rest of our lives?", Josh asked with a smile as he looked into Tyler's eyes.
Tyler smiled and broke eye contact for a few seconds, but soon looked back at Josh.
"No, for the rest of eternity"
