19 || Betrayal, or Not?

I stood awkwardly in a dark corner of the large room, silent. I don't know what to do!! Will I betray my own Mother? Whose side am I on?

"Kimiko!" Kidd says, rushing up to me. He blushes slightly.

"Do you want to dance?" he asks.

I'm completely and utterly shocked, but I nod my head and he takes my hand. We go out to the dance floor and I let Kidd lead, though I'm a good 5 inches taller than him. I step on his foot and flush.

"Sorry, I'm no good at dancing..." I mutter. Kidd smiles a bit with his face tinged pink.

"That's ok, just let me lead and focus on my face," he advices, so I do.

His eyes shone a deep gold and he had a slight smile playing on his lips. I could feel myself getting lost in those eyes of his. I can't help it, they were mesmerizing. Suddenly, I am interrupted by a loud bang. The room started to turn green.

I missed the signal.

"QUICK!" Sid yells. Kidd drags me to where the zombie was beckoning for us.

I felt as if my stomach were dropped in an ice cold pit of water. I missed it. I missed the signal.

Sid mutters something unintelligable. Suddenly, I'm falling. Falling fast and falling free. All that surrounded me was darkness. Dakness that swallowed me whole. I can't scream due to the terror rising within me.

I suddenly land with a thud. Other thuds told me that my friends have landed as well. Stein is here, too.

"Listen up, he says, not an ounce of panic in his voice. "Our academy is under attack. We've been betrayed by our own nurse Medusa, and need to fight."

The others are shocked, but I'm not. I guess that I'm on their side now.

"W-what's going on?" Black Star cowers. Liz rolls her eyes.

"He just told you, didn't he?" Soul says.

Black Star cuts him a look and Stein kills off their uneccessary talking by giving them the most terrifying glare I've ever seen.

"Anyways..." he continues, as if he hadn't just terrorized the whole group. "Black Star and Tsubaki, you fight the Demon Sword."

My heart drops. Crona. He was here. Possibly in danger. And my friends have to fight against him.

Maka interjects. "Let me fight him." she says, balling her hands into fists. "I want revenge." Revenge? What exactly did that idiot sword do? Soul smirks. Maka holds out her hand and he flashes brightly, turning into a Scythe.

"I guess I can let you steal the show," Black Star shrugs. "but only this once."

Maka smiles and says, "Lets go, Soul." And she runs off.

"Black Star, go do whatever," Stein says dismally. "And Kidd, you go ahead and battle the Kishin yourself."

Liz backs away.

"The Kishin?" she whines.

"That sounds scary..." Patty giggles, oblivious that she was about to fight the Kishin and not her grandma. "It's ok!" She continues to laugh. "We'll have fun!!"

"Keep up that good attitude!" Stein encourages. "You'll need it."

Kidd scoffs.

"Liz, Patty, transform," he commands coldly. The sisters flash brightly and turn into the pistols, landing gracefully into Kidd's waiting hands.

"And you, Kimiko," Stein finishes. "You come with me." My stomach tenses up.

"And, uh..." I say quietly. "Who are we fighting off?"

My heart stops when the Professor replies with a simple, "The witch Medusa."
