The Capitol Games

chapter 2

We are now escorted to District 12 to learn about their living habits. They have nothing the capitol has; Showers, luxurious food and cars; I am happy that I live in the Capitol and not a trashy place like this.

We are going to learn some survival skills, I am going into the wilderness with Katniss to learn how to kill an animal with a bow and arrow, while Peeta teaches Melvin how to camouflage and make snares to catch animals.

While I am walking to where Katniss will show me how to hunt I fall into a small hole. I try to move, but when I put pressure on the leg, the pain is too unbearable so I collapse to the ground and yell for help. Nothing. Two minutes later I yell for help again. Still nothing. By this time I am getting really scared and have almost started crying but I just try yelling for help 4 more times until Melvin hears me

"Die-Anna is that you?!" Melvin asks worriedly

"Yes!" I say with the last bit of the voice I have

"Die-Anna what wrong? where are you?" Melvin says while running through bushes and trees.

"I fell into a hole and broke my leg, go get help" I say while my voice is very crackly.

"Let me Text Effie and tell her to come and help you" Melvin says comforting, while he finally approaches where I am laying.

"Oh no..." Melvin says with worry

"What" I ask with a harsh tone.

"I have no signal here" Melvin says while walking in circles trying, to find signal. By this time I am ready to KILL Melvin for not just walking back to the town and getting help.

"Well if you do not have signal, here is a smart idea! Go back to town and get HELP" I hiss at Melvin. That idiot now has gave me a headache to go with my hurting leg.

"OHHHH THAT IS A GREAT IDEA DIE-ANNA!! I WILL BE BACK!!!" Melvin yells as he runs back to town to get help. I am gonna make sure I kill him slowly and painfully in the games.

After what felt like an eternity, eryone showed up with Melvin to see what happened.

"Die-Anna, what happened??" my mom asks sounding flustered

"I fell in to this hole and sprained my ankle"

"Well, I guess that we will have to go back to the Capitol, before you hurt yourself even more" she says in her motherly tone.

There is nothing that bothers me more as when she uses that tone in public. Especially then when we are training for the games, because that will make me look weak.

"Attention every one. We are going back to the Capitol, because my daughter Die-Anna, has sprained her ankle." My mom says demanding and yet in a caring tone.

I can here Katniss say to Haymitch.

"How is this wacko Die-Anna character going to survive the hunger games if she can't handle a little fall??" I hear Katniss say to Haymitch in a mocking harsh tone.

"Don't worry Katniss. Remember, she is from that stupid Capitol". Haymitch says harshly scowling after he says "Capitol"

"Oh yea, and also she is Effie's daughter." Katniss says rolling had eyes.

"That also is a disadvantage, and sadly I don't think any of the tributes will make it" Haymitch says mockingly and scoffing.

"So true" Katniss says laughing.

How rude of them to talk about the Capitol people this way! Saying that we won't survive the Capitol Games! Also how DARE they call the Capitol stupid! I am thinking as I storm fuming while limping to my mother to tell what is happening.

"Mom" I say harshly while catching my breath.

"What's wrong Di??" My Mom says while fixing her hair in a sweet tone. She is always so sweet to me, unless I make her mad, which is not often because I have learned that she can be mean when she is angry

"Katniss and Haymitch called the Capitol stupid."

"Don't you ever say that word again missy". She says a little harshly.

Oh dear I can now hear the softness in her voice gone, and now replaced with madness. She does not like me swearing and using harsh language.

"But mom, those are there own words!!" I say with attitude.

"Ok, I'll talk to them, and please quit with that winy voice and attitude" she says with less of a mean tone she had a minute ago. My mom now was started walking to where Haymitch and Katniss are standing to talk to them.

I decide to just try making some weaving out of grass when Haymitch and Katniss are walking towards me.

"Die-Anna, we are sorry for saying those things that we said, but you should have not been eavesdropping on our conversation" they say in the district 12 anniying accent.

"I hate you". I mutter under my breath as I turn away and limp towards my mom.
