"Y/n! I have a date to the Ball!" Hermione gleamed. As I sat on my bed, with my back leaning on the headboard, staring down at the letter I was given in class.

"Has Ron finally asked you?" I scoffed, still looking down at the letter.

"No"

"Oh" I looked up suddenly and frowned. "Who are you going with?" I asked, putting the letter on my bedside table. Out of sight, out of mind...

Hermione sat on her bed which was next to mine, "Viktor Krum" she said quietly, clearly holding in her excitement.

"Really!!" I jumped up and sat on the edge of my bed to face her properly, "Ron will be so jealous!" I joked, Ron would be jealous of Viktor but Hermione didn't read it that way.

She just giggled and asked the fatal question, "Have you been asked yet?"

"Well...." I began and she gave me a look that said 'don't lie to me', "I was given this letter in my last class..." I trailed off, picking up the letter and showing it to her, "that's Draco's writing" I said.

How did I know that? We are pretty good friends, even though I'm a Gryffindor and he's Slytherin, he hasn't been horrible to me yet. His attitude changes when he's near me, it sounds very cliche I know. I'm not the only one who's notice though, Hermione has of course.

"Why haven't you opened it?" She asked. I shrugged, "don't you want to?" She asked again.

"I don't know, it might not be from him, but I have the feeling it is, I'm scared there might be something..."

"Evil?" Hermione suggested.

"No but along those lines" I laughed to take the seriousness away. I wasn't sure what to expect, if he was going to ask me to the Ball surely he would of just asked me in person. This looked like a really long letter. "I guess I should open it really" I sighed, taking it off her. "Or! Better yet, you could open it for me" I tried to hand the letter back to her.

"No, y/n, just open it" She huffed. So I did, trying not to rip the envelope. "Come on!" She huffed again as I opened it. I unfolded the paper, there wasn't as much writing as I thought.

Dear y/n,

I would like you to meet me at the Owlery later today around 4pm

Draco

"Well?" Hermione asked, after I stared at the note for a while after reading it.

"He wants me to meet him at the Owlery at 4" I said, handing it to her so she could see for herself. The clock then began to strike. One. Two. Three. Four. "You've got to be joking" I huffed, standing up and putting my shoes back on and finding my big coat. I was still in my uniform, "I'm going to be freezing up there" I complained, taking the letter out of Hermione's hand and making my way to the tower.

It was freezing, I kept slipping on the stairs as I made my way up. I could see someone pacing around at the top of the stairs, they then went into the room as I reached the top and they walked out as I walked in. We bumped into each other, which nearly sent me falling from the tower. He caught me and started apologizing over and over again. "y/n, I;m sorry. I thought you weren't coming" Draco said, holding onto my arms, as if I could slip through his grasp at any moment.

"Yeah, by the time I read the note it was 4" I said, I wasn't going to tell him that I was putting off reading it. "So, what did you want to talk to me about?" I asked, smiling.

"Oh yeah... erm..." He moved his arms and stepped back from me, almost giving me space, I had a feeling I knew what he was going to say or ask. "I was wondering if, maybe, you wanted to go to the Yule Ball with me? That's if no one has asked you yet"
