"Kagamine Rin? Why do we have the same last names?" I said slowly.
Rin leaned against the wall and dangles his feet off the edge of the bed. "I know, pretty cool, right? It's as though we're twins, but we're not!" He said enthusiastically. I stand and walk around the tiny living space, and swirled around to look at him reading a book.
"How do you have electronics up here?" I asked, very curiously. He looked over at me and out down his book and got up from his bed, standing up to look in the fridge.
"The neighbours allowed me to connect my appliances in their outlets inside their homes," he said closing the fridge door. Sipping on a juice pack, he turned around to look at me. "My parents built this house for me. When I asked them if I could start living by myself, they didn't like it, but they made this tiny house for me!" He said twirling around with his arms in the air, making some juice splat on my face and uniform.
"Eww..." I said, as I sniffed the grape juice stains. Rin looked at me with a lopsided grin. "Sorry." He said sheepishly.
"So then, where are your parents?" I ask, and he pointed out the window, down the street where you could see the setting sun. "All the way at the end of this street. Very far distance, but I still go there every once in a while." He explained.
I stared out the window of the tree house, above all the shorter houses. The sky was mixed with orange to a dark purple, and it was the most beautiful thing ever.
Snap!
Rin took a picture of it. He showed me the camera with a smile and said, "Pretty cool camera, huh? It used to belong...to my grandfather..." he trailed off at the end.
We stood there for a few awkward seconds before Rin looked up and smiled. "Come! Let me show you something!" He said, takingg my hand and pulling me top the corner of the room, dropping the camera on the bed as we passed. He pulled a string on a secret trapdoor and stairs folded down; like attic stairs.
He climbed up and so did I. We were on the roof, among the branches and leaves, and we saw the sunset clearly. I sat next to Rin, and he smiled. It was like a fairytale, like Wonderland.
No words could have expressed this feeling inside of me, never before had I seen something add extravagant as this one thing, that happens every single day.
A weight applied to my left shoulder. Rin sleepily leaned on me.
"Hey,Rin?" I started."Yeah?" He replied with a yawn.
"You're getting pretty...heavy..." I try to push him off, but I end up moving and his head falls and hits the branch where I was previously sitting.
"Ouch man! What was that for?!"
"No touchey," I replied grumpily, folding my arms. "Hey, how do you make money to get all your stuff?" I ask.
He lay down across the thick branch as the sun died down and he closed his eyes. "I work part time in a flower shop. Other than that, I get all my other stuff from my parents." He replies softly.
I look away from him and nod a little. This is something I like. This is something I would always enjoy, no matter how much times I would do it. Just sitting and talking with someone, who easily invited you into their home and was so kind to you. I wouldn't normally be speaking to him so friendly right now.
But also, he may not like it if he knew I hated women...
He suddenly jolted up and looked at me. "Eww, Len!" He said, holding his nose.
"What? I didn't do anything!" I say immediately.
He leaned in close to my chest, making me lean back a little in defense, and sniffed. I instantly pushed him away as he licked a juice stain on my shirt.
"Dude! It's just the juice stain! It smells horrid, man!" He said, leaning back up. "Let me wash it for you." He said and started pulling off my outer shirt. "Ah! No! At least inside! I'm exposed out here!" I said, crawling backwards, and I eventually fell back through the trapdoor.
"Ow..."
"Ouch, Len, I felt that," Rin said as he patted over his heart dramatically and shook his head.
"Moron." I said as I got up and walked over to the sink, taking my shirt off as Rin made his way back inside and closed up.
I shivered. "I feel naked." I say as I unbuttoned my undershirt and take it off.
Rin laughed at me. "You only took off your shirt lol." He said.
'Lol'
What does that mean?
He takes my shirt and washes it in the sink, and let's it soak. "Why don't you stay here for the night, since it's already dark out?" He asks. I hesitated. Shouldn't I be home by now, studying? Feeding pug? Mending the ga--
"Aye Len. I'll have to keep your shirt for now. Its gonna be a while for it to soak, so just stay here. I'll just...sleep on the floor?" He said.
"Fine..." I said and sit down against the bed.
I didn't know what was coming up in the next few hours, but it certainly wasn't what actually happened.
