Aiden's POV
For as long as I can remember it has been this never ending battle between me and my brother. It was always I'm better than you, I'm smarter than you, and it got the point where I was like dude seriously? We use to, or should I say Adam just use to try in out shine me for or fathers attention and affection. He wanted to be the good son, the obedient one, like I really care. But now that my father is sick, it's who will find a mate first. See my father is king of the vampire world, a world that is lies parallel to the human world. Our passage through is a small town near here that is called Hawthorne.
I for one could care less about being king, it is nothing to me, but it is everything to Adam. I would leave him alone and let him find a mate, if and only if he will let me be. There is no telling what my brother would do to me if he becomes king. My older brother has always hated me. The day I was born he told me was the worst day of his life. Adam has always bullied me and hurt me in every way possible. When I was around the age of six I got lost in the woods. Well not really Adam led me in to the woods and left me, but that's beside the point. Our mother was frantic that she could not find her baby, so instead of staying behind as my father and the search party had told her she went out on her own to find me. Unfortunately she ran in to hunters and was killed. Adam blames me for her death; even though it was his fault I was lost in the first place. When my mother died it was like the death of our father too. He withdrew from the rest of us. Spent most of his time in my mother's garden allowing no one to enter. He never blames me, he tells me that all the time but I blame me. If only I had been aware of my surroundings or kept attention on the path that Adam had led me, I would have found my way home. I was young and dumb and my mother paid for my stupidity.
"Aiden" Adam roared. Ha he sounds pissed he must have noticed I moved myself in. Oh well. Don't get me wrong I don't take pleasure in tormenting my brother, it's just that I value my life. I mean I have a beautiful home in the vampire world and I would much rather stay away from humans. They are just to bloody tempting. I figure that is why Adam is here to find a mate. He figured that I would never follow him here. Honestly I wouldn't have and I didn't. It was just pure plain luck that I had been in Hawthorn that night Kelssey had stumbled upon it, I was just looking for a fresh snack. I was not aware that Adam had found someone so soon after Claudette's death. I would never have guessed that he had decided on following an old tradition and find a human mate. It is nearly impossible to find a pure mature human; sex is part of an everyday thing for teenagers now days. If you haven't notice a human bride is favored for a king over a vampire one. I don't understand why, humans don't hold the beauty of vampires. If you do go with a human though she must be pure in every way, meaning a virgin and never been bitten or donated blood to our kind. Who would have thought he would have found one.
Kelssey I had spotted immediately. She was the most beautiful woman, human or vampire that I have ever seen. This is something you don't see a lot of, like I told you vampires are really beautiful creatures. Kelssey had the most beautiful creamy ivory skin that I have ever seen with rosy cheeks. She looked like a porcelain doll, no more like an angel. Yes, an angel, with all of that soft curly brown hair and her eyes. Her eyes are the most amazing clear shade of green. I could just stare into those eyes all day. She would have been perfect if I didn't smell my brother on her.
"Aiden" my lovely brother shouted again. When he walked into the den where I was his eyes narrowed. I was stretched out on his couch, feet up shoes on. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Well, how nice it is to see you too brother" I placed an arm under my head, and looked at him. I smiled when I saw his fuming face. I must say it amuses me greatly.
"You can't kill her." Wow seriously was he going to get straight to it, no hello or nothing. So predictable he is each and every time. 'You can't kill her; she's the one, blah, blah, blah. All these years of living and you would have thought that he would have come up with some better dialog.
I shrugged at him, already bored with him. I cocked my head to the side as I heard the purr of an engine pull into the drive way. I looked at Adam and he looked as if he knew the car but was not happy with it being here. I smiled as I heard the door open than close. The footsteps made their way to the door quickly.
"Shit" Adam sighed as the doorbell rang. I could not only hear the beating of Kelssey's heart and the annoying tap of her foot, but I could smell her sweet scent.
I looked over at a nervous Adam, what the hell was wrong with him? "Are you going to just stand there? You know both of our cars are out there, she knows your here." Still he stood there like the idiot he was, debating on what he should do.
"Fine, I will get it" I informed him. I hopped up and went to the door. I know this house is not that big but he should get a maid if he can't get the damn door. The door bell rang again and the tapping came rapidly. I was fighting my urge to yell at her about her patience.
"Adam what the hell- err um" she stopped when she noticed that I was not Adam. She blinked a few times, and then looked me over. Ah she notices me, that's good.
"Hey beautiful" I smiled. She stared at me as a smile threatened at her lips. She wanted to smile but wasn't sure. She was probably wondering what the hell I was doing here. She likes me I know it. I wonder how my big brother will feel about that.
"You" she said narrowing her eyes. She was really cute when she was upset. Maybe I'll keep her around for awhile before I kill her.
I grinned showing my teeth. "Yes, it's me!"
