Make an outline
Whenever you start writing a story is
always good to prepare a rough draft/outline of the plot that you would like your story to follow, the character profiles of the main characters that you have imagined in your book.
This will help maintain consistency and serve as a reminder in case you take a short break and decide to get back to writing after a period of time.
This also helps you keep a level head if you are working on multiple projects.
