I had recovered slowly the past months. Jace and Alec had been on my back, making it almost impossible to leave. I say "almost", meaning as soon as they looked the other way, I would slip into the shadows and just vanish in to thin air. Isabelle had been roasted by Jace about it, accused for hiding something. And yes, I had to thank her for not telling.
Because, every time I could slip through their fingers, I would return to meet Raphael at the park. As soon as I got back though... Well, Jace and Alec would question me over and over where I had been, and I knew they grew ever slightly more suspicious about my whereabouts. Which meant I would have to be careful.
But in those moments where I would just be in Raphael's company I would forget them. It didn't really matter what we did, all that mattered was that I could focus on someone I enjoyed talking to. But at some point I had a feeling that my luck would run out. And that soon.
But it was not today. Or tonight, I should say.
I was sneaking along the treeline in the park, hiding from the attentive eyes of Jace and Alec, who was on patrol in the park. They were talking, clearly not aware of me. Somehow I hated the fact they were there, because I was supposed to meet someone. Yes, Raphael.
"Mi querida" I gasped silently as the dark, velvet voice reached my ears, and I turned around to look into a pair of brown eyes.
"Oh my god, they will see you" my words were yelled in a hushed whisper as I pushed Raphael back. He chuckled in response, before he picked me up and sped off with me in his arms. I, however, were clinging to his neck, biting my lips to keep myself from screaming.
As he skidded to a halt I slapped his arm, glaring at him playfully. "Never do that again"
"I thought you liked my speed" Raphael chuckled, before wrapping me up in his arms, burying his face in the crook of my neck. "I have missed you" He whispered against my skin, his ice cold breath playing unkind games with the nerves under my flesh.
"I missed you too" I whispered, nuzzling my nose into his chest. Raphael responded with a soft kiss to my skin, before he pushed me at an arms length away from him, eyeing me up and down. Only now it occurred to me that we where on top of Hotel DuMort. "Erm, Raphael..."
"I know, but, our usual spot is taken" He snickered, dragging me down to sit beside him as he sat down himself.
I leaned back on Raphael's chest, enjoying the scenery of the city, glowing against the dark night sky. Cars drove by, people chattering and hurrying off to do whatever they had to. My eyes followed every movement, relaxing to the sound of New York's music in the night.
Raphael leaned onto my back, his arms draped around my waist, his head supported to my shoulder. His breath caressed my skin, sending chills down my spine. I turned my head to look at him.
"You know..." I begun, turning my gaze back to the city in front of me. Cars continually driving past, blissfully unaware of me and Raphael's presence high up above their heads. "... My life has taken some strange twists and turns"
"I can imagine" Raphael murmured back, embracing me with his arms. I turned my head to look at him. His masculine face. Well formed lips, pale skin and dark eyes to go along with his dark hair. How much I actually did like him, I only realized when I looked at him. He was simply gorgeous, if a bit reckless and sarcastic at times, but he had his shreds of humanity that he didn't hesitate too much to show me.
Raphael turned his head, his eyes glittering, almost black and secretive. He smiled softly at me, before he leaned in, pressing his lips against mine and my brain stalled. It was not I didn't want to be kissed by him, it just came so abruptly my head had no means of keeping up with it. The share shock of it had me staring blindly onto Raphael's eyelids. As if they'd give me the answer.
After my shock subsided, I kissed Raphael back, closing my eyes and raised my hand to cup his cheek in my hand.
The way his lips danced in perfect sync with mine had butterflies fluttering their wings against the inside of my stomach, making my lips tip up in a slight smile against the coolness of his lips. So soft and firm.
His hand on the small of my back pressing me against his body, and the other one cupping my face, his thumb slowly caressing my skin.
I pressed myself harder against Raphael, my arms circled around his neck, my left hand entangled in his hair, gently playing with his hair. Raphael growled against my lips, gently and carefully taking my bottom lip between his teeth, careful not to have his sharp edges pierce my skin.
"I never thought I'd fall for a ShadowHunter" Raphael chuckled after a while as he parted, brushing a piece of my hair away from my face. His cold fingers sent delicious shivers down my spine, making my breath shiver to his touch.
"And I never thought you to be real" I smiled, supporting my forehead to Raphael's, looking into his dark orbs, memorizing how beautiful they were.
"But I am, and I am here" Raphael murmured, digging his face in my neck, letting his lips gently touch my skin without kissing. "And I am not going anywhere" His breath made me shudder, his lips made me bite back a moan that had my breath hitch and my back arch. Raphael laughed, his lips vibrating against my skin, before he carefully dragged a fang over my skin, making me tip my head back and close my eyes.
"Not fair" I breathed, trying to keep myself by my wits. His small, gentle kisses and occasional scrapes with his fangs sent a bold of desire through my body, and I started to wonder if he could smell my phermones? It would make sense.
"Your blood smells intoxicating" He hummed against my skin, slowly poking my skin with his fang, before I felt his tongue lick the puncture wound. "It tastes as intoxicating"
"Don't drain me" I chuckled, feeling how a moan pressed on as Raphael shifted to grab a fistful of my hair, tipping my head sideways as he shifted between kissing and gently nibbling my skin.
"I would never" Raphael said between kisses, before he parted himself from me, eyeing me up and down. "Even now when I want to"
"Raphael, you know what I will do if you try"
"Indeed I do, mi querida" Raphael smiled, fishing my stele up from my jacket, handing it to me. "Heal up, I want you to stay the night"
"I would love to, but Jace and Alec-"
"Can mind their own business, Isabelle will cover up for you" He was right. Isabelle was the reason I was with Raphael in the first place. Which had me curse and bless her in my mind. But if I texted her, I knew she would tell me to be safe or whatever. Implying other things than just sleeping. Which also had me doubt sending her any message, but I had to.
"Fine" I said, drawing the healing rube on my arm, before I took out my phone, sending a short text to Izzy. I hope she wouldn't interrogate me when I returned... again... like last time...
