It was remarkable how a whole hall could go silent when Harry Potter walked through the doors. Just seconds passed before conversation was roaring through the hall again. Harry slipped into a seat between Ron and Hermione, Amelia flashed him a smile from the seat directly across from him. Fortunately he was saved from any and all questions about his encounters from the curious twins or anyone else at the table because at that moment Albus Dumbledore stood at the podium.

"Another year gone!"

He proclaimed, his tone taking the utmost cheer. "What a year it has been! Hopefully your heads are all a little fuller than they were... you have the whole summer ahead to get them nice and empty before next year starts."

He took a pause looking over his mass of students. Amelia couldn't wipe the smile off her face, and there was no getting rid of the twinkle in her eye. She loved everything about Hogwarts, and was already excited to come back in a few months.

"Now as I understand it, the House Cup here needs awarding, and the points stand thus-"

Amelia cringed, realizing he was about to announce the points. The Gryffindor's score was absolutely pathetic. Noticing her tense up, George and Fred put their hands on her shoulder. Feeling their touch she craned her neck back.

"Don't worry you'll get used to it, we don't really win anything." They said in unison.

Amelia shook off their hands when she suspected Dumbledore was looking directly at them for talking. She met his eyes and could have sworn he gave her a slight nod while continuing  on with his speech.

"In fourth place, Gryffindor, with three hundred and twelve points; in third, Hufflepuff, with three hundred and fifty two; Ravenclaw has four hundred and twenty six and Slytherin, four hundred and seventy two."

A storm of cheering and stamping broke out from the Slytherin table, generating an eye roll from Amelia and Danielle along with others seated at the table. Draco Malfoy bumping Semira's shoulder and banging his goblet on the table was a very sickening sight.

"Yes, yes well done, Slytherin." Dumbledore muttered, looking anywhere but at the grinning Slytherin table. He cleared his throat loudly, and Amelia's heart skipped a beat. Something was happening. There was more.

"Recent events have to be taken into account."

The room went very still. No one moved, not even a little- not even an inch.

"Ahem," said Dumbledore. "I have a few last minute points to dish out. Let me see..." At that moment Amelia's chest swelled with hope.

"First- to Mr. Ronald Weasley."

Amelia's smile faltered as she turned her big eyes to Ron. She was the last person she thought would be getting an award, but it was amazing! He was finally getting recognition for something! Ron on the other hand didn't think it was great at all, he went completely purple in the face. Looking like a radish with a bad sunburn.

"For the best played game of chess Hogwarts has seen in many years, I award Gryffindor House fifty points."

The Gryffindor cheers were deafening. Danielle actually had to throw her hands over her ears after Dumbledore finished his sentence. Percy could be heard shouting to the other prefects, "My brother, everyone! My youngest brother! Got past McGonagall's giant chess set!"

Amelia's eyes watered, she had never heard Percy boast about one of his sibilants before. It was truly a miracle. She turned her slightly watering eyes back to Dumbledore knowing he wasn't finished.

Finally there was silence in the crowded room again.

"Second- to Miss Hermione Granger.. for the use of cool logic in the face of fire, I award Gryffindor House Fifty points."
