Hee Joon & Hye Min
Hee Joon lets go of Hye Min's arm. Without hesitation, she brushes the creases from her sleeve and walks away, her expression unreadable.
"Why does she act this way?" Hee Joon wonders, frustration flickering in his eyes. But he quickly pushes the thought aside and steps back into his room.
His butler still stands by the door, his head bowed in silence. As soon as he notices Hee Joon re-enter, he hurriedly follows him inside.
"I am very sorry, sir. I did not expect her to behave that way. I deeply apologize."
Hee Joon sighs, running a hand through his hair. "It's fine. You can leave me now."
The butler bows before quietly exiting the room, leaving Hee Joon alone with his thoughts.
At Ivan's House
"What was that all about?" Jae asks, peeking into Mona's room, his tone filled with curiosity.
Mona quickly wipes away her tears before turning to face him. "It was nothing. Do you need something?"
Jae shakes his head before hopping onto her bed. Without warning, he starts jumping on it.
"Can you make me something to eat?" he asks, attempting to distract her from whatever is weighing on her mind.
Mona sighs as he climbs off the bed and begins tapping her shoulder persistently.
"Yes?! What do you want me to make you?" she asks, exasperated.
Jae grins. "I want some... some ramen!" He tugs at her hand. "Come on!"
As they leave the room, they spot Ivan standing at the end of the hallway. At that moment, Jae quickly yanks his hand away from Mona and steps ahead of her. He turns back and calls out loudly, "Make sure to make my ramen extra good!" Then, with a playful wink, he hopes to get at least a small smile from her.
Downstairs in the kitchen, Mona busies herself with the ramen while Ivan lingers nearby, watching her. His hesitation is obvious. He wants to ask something, but he isn't sure if he should.
Mona finally looks up. "You've been staring at me this whole time. What is it?" She sets down the chopsticks and turns fully toward him. "Just ask."
Ivan clears his throat. "Um... What's your relationship with that guy? Hee Joon, I mean. I remember seeing him the first time I found out your name. Are you two... dating?"
Mona lets out a soft chuckle. "No, it's not like that. We've known each other since childhood, and we've always been close. If anything were going to happen between us, it would've happened a long time ago."
Ivan exhales subtly, relief washing over his face.
The Next Day
Mona spends half the day in her room. Without Jae dragging her to school, there's no reason to get up.
But even as she stays curled under the covers, she can't escape the words that replay in her mind.
"Consider this friendship over."
Those words still haunt her.
She doesn't understand why Hee Joon said them. She wants to explain, to make him see that she never wanted this to happen. But it's too late now.
She walks to the window, watching the rain and lightning dance across the darkened sky. I wonder what Hee Joon is doing right now...
Her breath catches as she spots someone standing outside in the rain. Her heart pounds as she looks closer.
