"You're pregnant."
I couldn't breathe. I hadn't been keeping my food down for a few weeks now and I had hoped it was because I had the flu. But no. The doctor had confirmed my deepest fear but also my suspicions. I didn't know what to feel because I knew exactly who the father was. Andy Woodbridge.
I had left the house about half an hour after Gemma had walked in on her father and me. I had returned the following day, at about three o'clock when they would both be at work, to retrieve my belonging and replace the key they gave me. For what it was worth, I wrote them both a letter. Both were trying to explain how and why events had played out like they had and that the blame should be deflected onto me and not each other. Since then I got a job in a sweet shop and returned to living in my father's basement, much like Cinderella awaiting her prince. Only my prince had entered my life and I had left him.
"How far along?" I asked.
"About six weeks," he replied.
I nodded, "Is the....baby....ok?"
"Yes it should be fine as lone as you increase your iron intake and eat and drink well you should be ok," the doctor replied.
I nodded, "Ok thank you."
I bit my lip. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't go back to Andy and tell him I'm pregnant with his child. I couldn't tell Gemma because she would instantly know who the father is. I couldn't tell my father or else I wouldn't have a home or a baby anymore. I felt like breaking down a crying.
"Is there anyone you would like us to call?" The doctor asked.
I nodded, "Could you call Dr Andy Woodbridge. He's a heart surgeon here. He's a close friend of the family."
The doctor nodded, "Anyone else?"
I shook my head, "No one else who cares."

"Oh god! I got here as soon as I could!" Andy said, pulling me in for a hug, "Thank you for calling Doctor Kelly. Sam are you ok?"
I waited for Doctor Kelly to step outside, "Andy I'm pregnant."
He sat down in shock, "What?"
"I'm pregnant," I cried.
"Am I....am I..." He stuttered.
I nodded, "You are the father."
He sat there in disbelief. The colour had drained from his face. One of his hands was holding mine while the other lay over my stomach. I could feel him shaking and his hands felt like ice. Panic pulsed through me, this wasn't a good idea.
"I'm....I'm....I'm going to be a father?" He breathed.
I nodded, "You are ok with this?"
He smiled, "Ok? This is amazing! A baby! A tiny baby!"
I sighed in relief, "I'm relieved you are so happy about this!"
"Why?" He asked.
"I thought you would be mad or scared or something," I explained, "But I really want to have this baby and what's more I want it with you daddy!"
I kissed him and he kissed me back. Then he stopped. I pulled away. His face had fallen again. He hung his head. My heart sunk. We weren't going to have this baby. I was and he was going to give money and that was it. This was worse than if he didn't care.
"Sam I'm already married," he said.
"But you said you and Kylie were over," I said, "You said you were getting divorced."
