"Which one do you want?" Ariana asks Liam, her son, to pick out the toy car he wants. But he seems to be taking a while to decide.
Ariana isn't the type of mother to pressure her son into getting one in which he doesn't want, so she waits patiently for him to finish his search through the shelf.
His little face looks determined and his hands work at top speed to shove paper books and plastic airplanes aside to find what he's looking for.
"Here, do you need a hand bud?" His mother smiles small, stepping up and taking part in looking.
Both mom and son scrabble through lots of things before the brunette woman finds a small toy car, one suitable for Liam's age group, which is red and shiny.
"What about this?" She chuckles, holding it out to show him. His young face lights up in delight and he snatches it, bringing it to his chest.
"Yes! Thank you mommy!" He screeches, immediately clasping his arms around his mother's torso, or rather around her legs because of his shortened height.
Ariana giggles and ruffles his touseled brunette hair lovingly, in awe of how she brought this wonderful little human into the world.
Liam is what makes Ariana have a smile on her face everyday, and what makes her sleep peacefully at night. He is her light in the darkness. Without Liam, Ariana wouldn't have become the Ariana she is today.
She turned 21 the week before, and having a small 4 year old child meant she couldn't go out and celebrate.
But Ariana didn't mind.
She enjoyed the night she spent watching silly movies with her son and having popcorn fights with him. Liam means the World to her and she would spend every single second of every day with him if she could.
"Mommy, did you know some dinosaurs have wings?" Liam questions inquisitively as he skips next to his mom, grasping his new toy tightly.
Ariana chuckles lightly at his adorableness and reaches down to ruffle her son's already wild curls.
"There aren't any dinosaurs now, but I'm sure they did when they were still on Earth." Ariana smiles, taking his hand and looking around to find a different aisle in the store.
"Where is it?" She mumbles to herself, but nearly jumps with joy when she finds it. They have been in the same store for over an hour and she is getting bored of shopping.
Both young people look down the stretch of shelves piled up with all different colour and sized greeting cards. It's crazy-mania.
Liam screams excitedly at all of the balloons and claps his hands together, his trainers making a sterile squeaky noise on the linoleum floor.
"Inside voices please Liam." Ariana reminds the little boy, who nods vigorously and scurries off towards the blow up party decorations.
The brunette woman sighs, scanning the shelves for what she's looking for. It's her best friend, Alfredo's, birthday soon and she hasn't gotten round to buying him anything yet.
She eventually decides on a card for her good friend and hurries to catch up with her son. God only knows where he's disappeared off to.
When Ariana finds him, after minutes of running in her nude heels up and down the shop and shouting his name, he is standing next to an adorable little girl.
She is a good few centimetres shorter than Liam, which Ariana is surprised about. He obviously didn't get his height advantage from her.
The girl also has gorgeous sandy brown hair and soft hazel eyes. She is wearing a cute baby pink romper with some small sandals.
Ariana smiles at the pair of toddlers from a distance, having their own bumbling conversation with each other. It amazes the woman how easily her son makes new friends.
It's not long before it becomes too tempting to resist and she decides to join in. She wants to know more about the girl her son is talking to.
"Who's this buddy?" The raven-haired woman steps up and flicks Liam's nose gently with her finger, making him scrunch his face and giggle happily.
"Mommy this is Bella." He introduces, and Ariana doesn't fail to notice her son blush an adorable shade of pink in front of the little girl.
"Well hello there, Bella." Ariana chuckles at the prospect, offering a friendly wave to the girl.
The clearly nervous kid locks her hands behind her back and tilts her head down to look at the floor, giggling shyly in front of the adult she's never met before.
Ariana notices that when the child smiles, she has cute little dimples that sink into her chubby cheeks and tiny crinkles by her eyes which are so sweet and beautiful.
"Bella? Oh God don't run off like that again! You had me worried!" An unknown voice cuts into the semi-awkward conversation and Ariana spins around to see a young man with the same sandy locks and gentle eyes as the girl.
He is dressed in ripped dark wash jeans and a deep blue hoodie, which contrasts his tanned skin tone perfectly. The woman can't help but feel quite intimidated by this gorgeous human.
She is knocked out of her daydream when the little girl squeals happily and runs to the man, wrapping her stubby arms around one of his legs. He laughs a beautiful laugh and hoists her up onto his hip.
"Who is this baby?" He asks the girl, nodding towards Ariana and her son. His voice is deep and smooth like honey, and it's so calming it could almost be played as a lullaby.
"Liam is my new friend daddy." The sandy-haired girl beams proudly, pointing to a now crimson Liam.
Ariana recognises her son's discomfort with this situation and hooks her hands under his armpits, lifting him into her maternal grasp. She then smiles at the guy with her sweet dimpled smile.
"I hope she hasn't been troubling you." The man asks, his voice cracking slightly, and Ariana shakes her head, letting her son play with her own long hair.
"Oh no no, she was no trouble."
"She's just a very sociable little girl." The guy chuckles, turning to admire what can only be assumed to be his daughter.
Ariana laughs and adjusts Liam in her arms, watching as he giggles along with Bella. The freckles littering his nose bunch together when he scrunches his face, and it's too adorable for words.
"I can tell, Liam's the same." The brunette woman blows a strand of hair away from where it was blocking her vision and grins in response.
"Mama can Bella come and see my dinosaurs?" Liam pleads suddenly, looking up at his mother with pouted lips and the infamous puppy eyes he knows she can't resist.
"You'll have to ask Bella's daddy if that's okay." She sighs and shakes her head, smiling at the man who grins back widely.
"Of course she can. Would you like to play with Liam some more, princess?" He looks down to see his daughter's whole face light up with excitement.
"Yes daddy!" She claps her tiny hands and giggles adorably, making Liam immediately copy.
The man whom is still a mystery turns to Ariana and looks at her gorgeous features with the utmost admiration.
"I'm Justin." He reaches out to shake her hand, careful not to drop his daughter, and she smiles when he leans down and places a gentle kiss to the back of her hand.
"I'm Ariana."
