"Excuse me, BOYFRIEND?!" My eyes were wide with shock.
"Yes, thats what your brother told me." My mom gave me a confused look. Afriel always gets me into trouble. I barely talk to him in school so why bother making up stories to your mother that your little sister already has a boyfriend? The nerve of that guy.
Harry walked in and placed his bag carefully by the sofa and walked towards the seat beside me. Did he know about what Afriel told my mom? Because if he did, he's gonna meet my fist, bruising his beautiful face.
"Goodmorning!" He greeted and sat down, nodding at both of my parents. When I looked at my mom's face, it was filled with joy, as she wore a genuine smile at the both of us. I turned to my dad with his brows narrowed like Harry was meat he'd tear into half. Sometimes I found my father too protective even with his friendly face. It scares me. Maybe he recognizes Harry now. Holy shit.
"Um, Dad... You alright?" The expression of his face remains the same. I can feel the tension though.
"I'm fine Crickette." He stood up, not taking his eyes off the boy beside me. "I'm going to work. Take care." He kissed my mom and then my head. I relaxed when my dad was out the drive way. Maybe he's just being too fatherly... I cleared my mind and glanced at Harry to see that he didn't touch his food. The only thing that seemed touched was his water and it didn't even reach half of the glass.
"Aren't you hungry?" I asked before I took in a spoonful of cereal flakes dipped in milk.
"Nope, I ate. I'm good." Then he smiled at me. Look away, look away. I told myself.
"Forgive your father, he's just busy these past few days." She let out a small laugh and continued eating.
He must be handling difficult cases. He usually settles for not more than five in a week. So he would more or less be occupied which was a relief so he wouldn't ask why I have a 'boyfriend' when it's not really true, then I have to explain to him everything. Where was Afriel and Heather anyway?
"Mom, wheres Afriel?" I asked looking around.
"Oh. Um, both of them went out for a walk before you came down." Her smile faded and seemed upset. No wonder. I mean don't get me wrong when I say Heather is gorgeous because she is. The only thing that breaks her image is her crumpled personality. A lot of people hate her, count me in the list.

We finished breakfast as I helped mom wash some dishes. Harry went outside leaving only the two of us.
"So, hows college?" She suddenly popped up.
"Well, I think i'm doing great. Why don't you ask about my big brother though?"
"Oh Crickette, your brother is too hard to approach these days, he even slept in the same room with that girl."
I think i've found myself an alliance in hating Heather.
"You mean, you don't like her?"
"Like her? I can barely stand her! She has no manners and she couldn't even be polite for a minute." the tone of her voice raised a little as she started to put the plates back in the cabinet and I sorted the spoons and forks.
I sighed in relief and told my mother the feeling was mutual toward Heather. She smiled and told me that she'll be sorting a few things upstairs and that she asked Maya to fix up my clothes for me. I nodded and proceeded to my car outside.
The air was cool and the sun was hidden in the clouds. I placed an old skateboard at the side of the car, layed myself on top of it and slid under to check if the parts were still intact.
