chapter 1

Jinho's POV

i walked casually
from school to home
a weekly routine
i dreaded too much.

how long do i have to do this
why is school so important
cant i live the life i desire
such thoughts filled my head.

i decided to drop by the library
one of the quietest in the neighbourhood
to do my thing
and that was look for freedom.

i plugged my headphones
and set my bag by a table
before running my fingers over the shelf
like how i ran them over the piano.

i picked two books
on love and war
and went back
to the table i chose.

what a combination
was love and war
an ironic situation
to be in.

i spent time flipping the pages
too immersed into the story
that i didnt notice
how time flew by like birds' wings.

by the time i looked up
it was nearly 7pm
the sun was setting
in the west across.

i picked up my bag
and checked out the books
before running to catch
the last bus home.

my burdens my burdens
how long do i have to live with them
why cant they go on their own
my thoughts filled my head again.

the bus soon reached the stop
and tapping my card out
i walked down the street
to the three-storey house.

it stood magnificiently on its own
the brown exterior glimmering in the moonlight
what a perfect atmosphere
to commit a crime.

the house was dark
no lights were turned on
my heart started to beat quickly
as i trudged across the lawn.

opening the gate
the air smelt damp
beads of sweat
trickled down my face.

i heard footsteps shuffle
behind the door
as i crept up closer
and pinned my ear against it.

the smell worsened
with every hitch of breath i took
so i yanked open the door
and witnessed something i shouldnt have.
