Chapter seventeen~ we're home

*Lauren's POV*
We stayed a little longer with Matt until his parents got here. They had came yesterday but we would have no way of knowing since we were knocked out. "Thank you very much for staying with our son you are very thoughtful" his mom said. "Also very stupid cause our son could have been killed" his dad mumbled. "Hey stop it wasn't her fault" his mom said again. "Sure it wasn't" he said again mumbling even lower this time and glaring at me. About 10 minutes later mom got back. She came in with an envelope full of money from Fred in one hand and a half eaten muffin in the other. "Alright kids you ready to go I have plane ticks to leave for New York city in two hours". "Really how did you get them so quick" I asked. "Well I actually got them yesterday because the Doctor figured you'd all wake up early this morning and I know you all want to get out of here as soon as possible" she explained. "Well okay let's go then". "Well Matt I know we said goodbye yesterday but I want to say it again I will miss you so much you were the first boyfriend or whatever we were that Ive ever had goodbye" I said hugging him again. "Goodbye Lauren it was nice to get to know you and maybe we can visit each other some time" he said. "Yeah I would like that but hey let's stay in touch". "Okay come on kids don't want to be late" mom called. "We grabbed our things and headed right out to the car". "Hey we're is Fred going to be staying" lance asked. "Oh he has a buddy not to far from here who offered to let him stay just until his house was repaired". "Oh well that's good at least he's not out on the streets" said lance. As we opened the car door Benny was sitting right there licking his paws clean. Lance practically jumped on him he was so excited. I guees because that's the closest to family he's really had over the years considering his dad well our dad was a complete douche as well as his step mother. "Thank you so much for getting him I don't know what I would do he helped me through some tough times with my dad when I was younger" lance said. "Well your welcome and I should save him cause he's my cat to" mom said.  "Oh that's right he is your cat now to". "No actually what i meant was that I got that cat for all of us right before Lauren and I left " mom explained. "Wait really I thought that my dad got me this cat that's what he told me!" "Well you know your father and what Horton all things he's done lying is only one of them" mom said. "Wow well thank you then" he said. Mom stared the car and and we headed off to the airport. We were pretty early when we got there so we walked around a bit and went to all the little stores that were inside to kill some time. About an hour later it was time to board. We had to put Benny in the animal part of the plane along with some other luggage that wouldn't fit. Nothing really happened on the flight it was long and boring so I dozed off. I was woken to the sound of my name being called by mom and lance. "Hey Lauren come on we need to get off we're here the big Apple" mom said. Right when she said that I couldn't help but smile I've always wanted to go to New York city even thought I lived there as a kid I barely remember that. "I can't believe this is really happening we are here in the city". "We actually aren't in the city yet we are right near it though so if we hurry now we will be there before it's to late" mom said trying to get me to hurry it up. "Hey Lauren I know this is your first time here but just a tip don't be a tourist or act like one we New Yorkers don't topically like them. "You will have to adjust to are walking pace also and to our aggressiveness it's the only way you will make it here alive" lance said sounding scary. "Wow really that sounds intense" i said taking a gulp. "He laughed a little and said I'm just messing around you will get used to it quickly but seriously tho don't walk slow you probably will get trampled". "Okay thanks for the advice I said as we laughed together". Moms car was still in Mississippi and it was getting transferred here but it was gonna take a few days so we got a taxi from the airport and drove all the way to the house. I got so excited when we entered the city I did the exact opposite of what lance told me to do. When we arrived it wasn't the nicest apartment building, but inside wasn't to bad. When we open the door we were surprised to find lances friends and a couple of older people there. I was guessing they were Jessica's grandparents she told me about. Also a guy who looked like a soccer couch. "Guys what is all this you made a cake you shouldn't have" lance said running and hugging everyone. "Hey how did you all get in here" mom asked a little creeped out. "Oh don't worry mom my friends know we're we keep the key and they must have invited the rest over I still can't believe it!" "Hey there is my favorite soccer player his couch said giving he a big hug". " does this mean Im back on the team" lance asked. "To be honest I don't think you ever left the team he said smiling and patting him on the back". "We made you all some cookies and got a cake manny said taking the delicious treats out". "Oh guys you are so amazing I can't believe you did all this". "Well we just had to celebrate for you getting your family back together and your happy ending" Jessica's grandma said. "I just want to say that I am so proud of this kid for going all the way to Mississippi he's got some bravery and a good heart you have an amazing son and soccer player" his couch said to mom. "By the way I'm couch Macone but you can call my Phil". "Well it's nice to meet you Phil and this is my daughter Lauren she will be going to your school". Well it's nice to meet you young laddie". "Thank you everyone for this it was very generous how about we all go out to eat dinner on me" mom suggested. "Oh that's very nice of you but actually my grandma cooked a chicken" Jessica said. "Yeah and I brought the mashed potatoes cause I know it's my bros favorite right lance" manny said. "Oh no way thanks bro you know me so well" lance said giving him a high five. "Well let's eat then" lance said sitting down at the table in the dinning room. We all followed and sat down with the food. Mom got some plates out and i me and lance got the cups, forks, and knives. When I sat down with everyone it felt good it felt like I was at home. even thought I didn't really know everyone that well I some how knew that I would fit in just fine here. These people really carried about lance and I hoped yet would to me as well. I was right about a few months later me and Jessica had become great friends even better then lance and her had been. But we all were good friends lance, Jessica, manny and I. Moms job was going great and she was making more money then she had been in Mississippi. We even started to redo parts of the house with the money Fred had given us. Not only that I got to see my dad again in jail that was an interesting experience. I won't get into that as much. Oh and I also joined the drama club. But you get the gist that we are all doing good and that in the end things really do turn out better then the way they were you just can't lose hope.
