21. On the Road

After the ferris wheel ride, they bought souvenirs, had dinner and then decided to go home.

The ride home was quiet and comfortable though both them were exhausted from the day's activities. RJ was sleeping (again) beside Maine with his head on her shoulder while she was scanning her phone for the pictures they took that day.

Maine was amazed with how the day turned. They totally had fun and became even closer. He also promised her a proper date which got her confused since he hasn't told her (directly) if he likes her. She couldn't help but feel giddy at the thought of it.

It's starting to sink to her that RJ likes her in a different way but she doesn't want to assume yet. And even if he does like her, she is still struggling with her personality. She freaks out whenever RJ shows too much intimacy and gets conscious with some of his physical touch. This kind of trait worries her that it might discourage RJ away so she decided to work on it.

With that thought in her mind, she reached her hand on top of his head which were on her shoulder. She ruffled his hair a bit and feel it on her palm. Her face moved closer to get a whiff of his scent. He smelled manly and musky(probably because he already sweat from their trip) but a hint of his mint shampoo was still there. She leaned her face on his head and tried to calm herself because her heart is now racing.

Rj felt her leaning on him so he sat properly and pulled Maine to lean on his shoulder instead and wrapped his arm around her. He went back to sleep right after.

Maine got surprised with the sudden close proximity and blood went rushing to her cheeks. Her face was leaning on his chest and she could feel RJ's warm slow breaths grazing the top of her head. She could hear his heartbeat along with hers, only a lot louder and faster than his. She wouldn't resist anymore. She can't fight the feelings anymore. She has decided on it, to accept RJ's comforting love, if ever that's the case.
