Seven

It's been a month since Bianca was put in the hospital and she got out yesterday. Since she really had no place else to go since her Alya were a thing so she couldn't live there and her parents were gone, she spent the night with a girl, Carly, from the dance program. Alya hadn't seen her since they said "I love you." and was freaking out. 

A lot had happened at Keaton since Bianca left, for starters Alya made a huge decision that changes everything, it all started at church. Alya was being a typical back row Baptist sitting in the furthest pew from the pulpit. Maybe that's why Alya thought it so strange when the pastor came up to her after the sermon and asked her what was wrong. He probably had seen her zone out a few times during thee sermon which she didn't normally do, Alya always payed her full attention. 

"I'm just scared about something." Alya said truthfully, she had been terrified everyday since her and Bianca started going out. Maybe if she just told her pastor about it things would be ok. The truth is, Alya just didn't know what to believe anymore. Her whole life she's been told that who she loves is nothing more than a devils trick on your mind and all she wanted was to know one thing. "What happens if I sin, but I don't believe it's a sin, so I can't repent?"

Alya asked the pastor sincerely. She didn't believe that her loving Bianca was a sin, so could she still be punished for what she didn't know was wrong. Maybe it was all just a misreading of a passage and the whole time it was really okay to be gay. Then again the message in the verse is very clear, "For a man to lie with a man like he would a woman is an abomination." Alya thought back on the verse for a moment before she was shook back by her pastors voice. 

"I trust and believe that God forgives us when we don't understand that what we are doing is wrong, why do you ask my friend?" The pastor was just as confused as Alya was at that moment, if she didn't know it was wrong, then how did she know to ask. 

"Well, I have a confession. You know Bianca Blackwell, the girl who just lost her father?"

"Yeah, I've seen her in the front row a few times a while back, she's a sweet girl. Why do you ask?"

Alya thought for a while before answering. Once she did this there was no going back. But she knew she had too.If not for herself, then for Bianca, everybody in school knew Bianca had a crush on Alya, but nobody had ever even suspected that the feelings were mutual.

"Well...I've been um... I've been dating her. I know that I've been raised up to believe that being gay is a sin, but I just don't believe that it is. How could somebody who I have fallen in love with, how could love in general, be wrong?"

Alya braced herself for the reprimand that she knew would indefinitely come...but what she heard was much different than she had expected. 

"Well Alya, I don't believe that you are a bad person, and I do not believe that you are going to hell. I believe that you are a great person who finally figured out that you shouldn't listen to everything my dad says in his sermons. The reason I got to preach today instead of him, is because he thought I could bring the younger people a new look on religion. Bianca is a wonderful girl and I am glad that you found her."

Alya woke up from her flashback when she heard Mr. Park say, "Alya told me she has a song to sing and that...it's about her girlfriend. Alya, do you want to sing Bianca your song now?"

"Yeah."

Alya got up in front of the class and looked at the small DJ sitting at the piano waiting for her cue to play. Alya nodded at Kit and she began to play. 

" If we take this bird in
