I'm that girl that no one notices. The girl that hides behind books, hides from the world. I'm 16 years Old, I go to Canon High school, I lost both of my parents when I was 13, and ever since, I have lived with my foster dad. I have long wavy brown hair, I'm 5'3, and extremely shy. I don't have any friends, I'm considered a "loner" in school by all my bullies, aka everyone in the school.

Walking through the halls of Canon High is an obstacle, getting through the punches, the name calling, the trips, the shoves isn't as easy as you may think. This morning is just like every morning. I'm walking down the hall to my first class, Math, when I hit something hard. I fall down, with my books scattering everywhere. I quickly pick them all up, ignoring the laughter around me. I continue walking and don't bother looking back to see who I hit. I don't want to be late for class, I can't be.

I get through the next two periods with few shoves and make it to the cafeteria. I usually find a table to sit at alone or I go eat in the library. Today I decide to sit in the cafeteria. I find a spot in a corner and get out some homework and start working on it while I eat. I don't eat much, I have my reasons why I never eat. The bit of food I had in front of me flys into my face. I look up and see its my worst enemy, Kaity Brooksen. We used to be best friends but high school came and she changed. She became the popular, I became the loner. Til this day she's pushed me around. I look around me and see everyone laughing.

"Oops, looks like you have a little mess there Alyssa. Better go clean up bitch."

I run out of the cafeteria, and straight to the washroom. I quickly start rubbing off the food before hell comes.

In walks Kaity and her followers. Her followers are her best friends, since me. They're like a group of barbie dolls. Kaity resembles barbie. She has long, straight blond hair, unbelievably thin, and wears enough makeup for double. Bethany, she's the bitches sidekick. Where Kaity is, Bethany is. Bethany has long curly chocolate hair, dark chocolate eyes, and thin as can be. Then there's Anna. She's the type of blond u call a dumb blond. She's extremely beautiful, with big blue eyes. She's kind of out there but the nicest of the group.

"Poor poor Alyssa. Where's your friends? Oh yeah, you have none." Her barbies laugh at this.

"What will you ever do?" Kaity jumps towards me. "All alone in here with just us. You know Alyssa, your such a little fake bitch walking around here acting all tough. When in reality, you're a little weak whore! Do us all a favour and disappear."

They finally walked out. I fell to the ground crying. I'm used to this. They're right. I should disappear but I can't. I wiped my face and walk out of the bathroom. I skip the last few classes. I can just catch up tomorrow. As I'm walking out I feel eyes on me. I look around but I don't notice anything other then the usual stares. I keep walking not knowing where I'm going.

I find myself at a small cafe a few blocks from school. I've always loved coming here. It feels like home.

"Hey Alyssa! We haven't seen you in a while. Where have u been?" Margaret asks.

Margaret's like the mother I don't have. She worries about me, cares about me, and loves me. She's older but would be a perfect mother. I love her just as much. Then there's Abigail, my favourite waitress. She's like my older sister. We look nothing alike. She's beautiful with long chestnut hair, smart and extremely likeable. She treats me like a younger sister. Everyone that works here looks out for me. I love them all and they love me. It's why I love coming here.

"I've been busy with school and just haven't had the time Margaret." I tell her.

"Good keeping up with your school hon. You're a smart girl, you'll go far in life. The usual?" Margaret asks.

"Yes please." I say with a smile.

She comes back with my order, burger, fries, and a chocolate milkshake. I mean who doesn't like milkshakes? I start eating and Abigail sits down with me.

"Hey shouldn't you be working?" I ask her.

"It's my break right now. How have you been sweetie? I've missed you around here."

"I've been really busy with school and everything. Sorry."

"No no, it's fine. You keep up with your school. I see a bright future for you." She tells me.

No one here at the cafe knows about my life. I've never told them about my home life or my school life. They would be heartbroken.

"Thank you. How have you been Abigail?" I ask her.

"Oh you know, the same old. Work, school, family. The boring stuff." She laugh as she says this. I join her.

I look at the time and see its almost 3:00.

"Im really s-sorry Abigail. I have to get g-g-going." I stutter out.

She gives me a funny look but leaves it.

"Okay hon, come back soon. We all miss you."

"I will. I promise. Bye"

I run out hoping I can make it back home before he returns.

It's freezing considering the fact I'm running against the wind and my lungs are screaming at me to stop. I finally see my house ahead, the house I dread returning to. I run up the drive way. I don't see his car in the drive way, which is a very good sign. I run in and look at the clock. It's 3:10 and he gets home at 3:30. I ran here in record time. I quickly look in the pantry and see pasta noodles and pasta sauce. I get them all out and quickly start. I make a mental note to get groceries soon. I finish the pasta in record time and get it all set out. I quickly start on the laundry and make sure his room is clean. I hear the door open and get ready for the intense roar.

"MY DINNER BETTER BE READY BITCH!!!"

I walk over to him with my head down.

"I-It's ready." I stutter out.

"DID I SAY YOU COULD SPEAK TO ME!?" he screams.

I can smell the stench of alcohol off his breath.

He walks over to the table where I put his dinner.

"YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT! WHY IS THIS COLD!?!" He shouts at me.

"I...I....I'm sorry. I..I..I.. I didn't know it.." Im interrupted with his hand connecting with my face and fall to the floor.

"DID I SAY YOU COULD FUCKING TALK TO ME?!?"

I lay on the floor motionless. I stay silent.

"YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT!!" He screams at me.

I feel his foot connect with my ribs. He keeps kicking me until I can't move. Seeing he's had enough he leaves, but not before he threatens me.

"Remember bitch, remember what happens if anyone finds out about anything!"

I lay there motionless not being able to move for a long time. I slowly make my way to the stairs. I climb to the top and go to my room. I close and lock the door, even a lock doesn't make me feel safe anymore though. I get into bed and let the tears fall. They drown my pillow and drown my system. I fall into a deep sleep, it's the only time of peace for me.
