Louis' P.O.V
A single tear escaped my eye and rolled down my cheek. As it reached my chin, it fell and the wet drop landed on my hand. I ignored it and looked back at Zara. She was breathing now, but was asleep. She looked pretty peaceful, but this was just an assumption.
She'd only been in hospital for a few hours, so her parents still didn't know anything. I wanted Zara to wake up, so I could speak to her about whether or not she actually wanted me to tell her parents. Deep inside, though, I knew it was right to tell them. They'd find out at some point anyway so if I didn't tell them now and they found out after, they'd never trust me with their beautiful daughter, who layed peacefully on the white hospital bed. It took a lot of courage, but I slowly pulled my phone out my pocket and rang Zara's home phone number.
"Hello? Zara? I've been trying to ring you! Where are you?" I heard a panicked voice at the other end. I could tell it was Zara's mum.
"Oh, it's not Zara. It's Louis." I replied politely.
"Oh, ok. Hi, Louis. Do you know where Zara is?"
"Yes, well...." I paused, taking a deep breath. "Last night, she had a bit of an accident, and she's in hospital."
"Hospital?!? Why? What happened?"
"Zara's ex hurt her." I didn't want to panic Zara's mum, so I left the main details out. But this obviously wasn't enough.
"In what way? What did he do?"
"He took her upstairs and was fairly violent with her. I tried to save her, Mrs Johnson, but I couldn't find her anywhere." I told her.
"Oh dear." She sighed. She was calmer now. "Can I come down? Are you in the hospital around the corner?"
"Yes, we are."
"Ok, then. Goodbye." She hung up and I locked my phone before gently placing it on the table beside me. Then I looked back at her. Her breathing was even and heavy, like she was in a normal sleep. But was she? I wasn't very good with doctors and that kind of stuff, so I didn't know exactly what was wrong with her, nor why she'd stopped breathing. I would have asked a nurse, but I never got anything they tried to explain to me. Sighing, I stood up and gave her a soft kiss on the forehead before leaving the room and heading down to the reception to meet Claire. It wasn't long before she arrived, with Zara's dad Dave by her side.
"Where is he? What's his adress?" Dave rubbed his hands together, like he was ready to start a fight. I remembered what Zara had said, and laughed in my head so that no- one heard me.
Just make sure my dad doesn't try to go and beat up Alex, he can't even hold a fist right.
"I don't know where he lives but don't worry ,Mr. Johnson, I'll deal with him."
He nodded, looking a little relieved he didn't have to do the dad's job of going to beat up the man who hurt his daughter.
"Zara has been moved from the emergency room to one upstairs. Follow me." I made my way upstairs and walked down a corridoor. Claire had sped up to reach me, and Dave wasn't far behind.
"Umm, Louis? Please don't let Dave try to beat up Alex. He isn't quite made for that." She smiled weakly. "He'll hurt himself more than he'll hurt Alex."
"Ok." I replied. We soon reached Zara's room, and I held the door open for Claire and Dave. They both rushed over to their daughter. I sat down and let them see her for a while. A nurse walked in.
"I'm guessing you're her parents?" She asked as she walked over to the bed. I joined them.
"Yes, we are." Claire nodded.
