Lexi's P.O.V
I hear a slight squeak, which can only mean that Niall had sat on the couch.
I hear sniffling and I peek in through the doorway.
Brian and Niall are sitting side by side conversing quietly.
"She told me that she was only dating me because she wanted to meet you. I thought she actually liked me......", Brian says letting out another sob.
I've only seen him cry once before.
After the.....the accident.
He wouldn't come out of his room, except to use the bathroom.
He wouldn't eat or drink out of his room, so I had to make the meals and bring them to him at the age of seven.
My father was at bars drinking and didn't come home until late at night.
I was seven.
Everything was thrown onto my shoulders.
I cleaned the house, made breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and did the laundry, even though it was just mine.
I had all of the responsibilities.
I even had to go grocery shopping.
It was a good thing we lived in a small town where everyone knew each other though.
Most of my neighbors brought over casseroles, pasta, and pizza for me and Brian.
I shake those thoughts out of my head so I can continue eavesdropping.
"She wasn't the right one for you then", Niall says. "I've faced heartbreaks before too."
He quietly chuckles.
"Lots actually. I guess that means that none of them were meant for me."
I guess Niall sees that Brian's face is still drooping because he goes farther to cheer him up.
"Tell you what. Let's have a boys night tonight. After dinner of course. Is that okay with you Lexi?"
I freeze.
Crap.
"You can come out now."
Blushing, I step out from behind the door.
"Hi", I mutter.
"Did you hear the whole conversation?"
I nod.
"Figured as much. You need to work on your spy skills."
"Hey! I thought I did pretty good!"
"Whatever."
I roll my eyes at Niall.
I walk over and give Brian a big hug.
"I think a boys night is a great idea. Just don't get too crazy. Let's go eat."
They both nod and stand up to go eat.
The table is filled with a pan filled with spaghetti, garlic bread, sliced up apples and......... cereal?
"Dad why are there bowls of cereal?"
"Oh......"
His face turns scarlet.
"That's for....... well...... I..........."
"Dad it's okay....."
My dad couldn't cook if his life depended on it.
