Against My Better Judgment

Keatons POV:

"Are you okay? Why haven't you been answering my calls? Are you mad at me?" I frantically say into the phone

"Uhm..no.." I hear Mikki say on the other end. "I'm not mad at you.. I've just have been, ya know, busy" we both remain silent for a moment. What is she hiding from me.

"Keaton?"

"You could've at least texted me or something."

"I know. I'm super sorry I didn't" I can hear her voice shaking

"Are you busy..." I pause, "like, right now?" she doesnt answer right away. I can hear her breatheing deaply as if she was nervous. But why. She's been to my house hundreds of times. Why is she suddenly acting like this is new?

"No." she says finally

"Can you come over?"

"Yeah. I'll be there in 10." she hangs up before I can even reply. What happened to us? What changed?

Mikki POV:

Why'd I say yes? I can't go over their! Not until Wesley goes back to collage! But I just told Keaton I would come! Gahhh I'm such an idiot!

I quickly swap out my pajamas for a flowy white tank and some navy blue shorts, not even bothering with make up or hair so I just leave it in its natural bleach blonde waves. I grab my red vans and throw on a matching beenie before running down the stairs

"Mom I'm going to Keatons house!" I call into the kitchen

"Okay honey. Did you guys work it out?"

"Sorta.." I say slipping on my shoes. "We'll talk more tonight."

"Alright" she smiles "Be back by midnight! Good luck!" she calls after me

"Bye mom." I say before closing the door behind me. I hop into my silver Handa Civic and start the engine before rolling out of the driveway. I've got until 12 o'clock and its only 9:15 now. Thats a few hours. I don't want to be there that long. I keep rewinding to that night in my head. If Wesley's there, I don't even know what I'll do.
